    New company, new career

Enquiries and Future Business So here is the final part in this update, I still need to work on being more concise  Since starting the cartlodge build I have been approached by 2 other house owners on the same road and another house owner from about 10 metres away. So I have 3 active...

Cartlodge Progress Pics We are about 1-2 weeks away from finishing this build, here are some pics: It has been challenging building this without the oak, which was on a 6 week leadtime, so I had to work around that by putting in temporary supports to build the roof. But we are getting...

    New company, new career

Cartlodge To be honest I wanted another garden room as my second piece of business, just to make life a bit easier. It would be a bit of repetition and familiarity, but that is not what landed and so off we go into the rabbit hole of obsessive research that is my MO on new projects 😅 This was...

    New company, new career

Hi All, A few people have asked about how my business is going and I thought I would do an update in this thread. Overall, I would say things are a lot better and looking really positive but I'm still not quite out of the woods: I have finished my first official won business, a garden room, I...

    Sold Axminster AC1950B Bandsaw

I think the forum rules are actual pictures are needed to post an item for sale. And if those ARE actual pictures then your description is wrong 🙂

    Sander and vacuum

Cheers Yeah I'm totally on board with paying more to save time, I just don't want to buy 50discs of each grit. I might have to.

Perfect! Where did you get the cubitron from and how many discs did you need to buy? I could only seem to find them for sale in packs of 50.

Festool HK55 worth it for a newbie Circular saw??

You can cut out a 'window' by plunging in the centre/ inside of workpiece rather than having to run in from the edge. Also, setting the depth with a plunge saw is much nicer as you are moving a little 'stop' along a slide rather than the whole saw mechanism. Also more accurate depth setting...

    3m flat roof span with 44 × 95 joists

No point taking the roof down, adding the metal plates is the best option in my view, it will be like a retrospective flitch beam. Need to drill and bolt them to the timber, probably every other joist. Metal fab guys will drill them for you. If you are running electricity think ahead as it...

    Proposed workshop build

I'm just building a cartlodge at the moment and this is how we have done it. The blockwork retains the type 1.

    Porsche

Yes it's interesting isn't it. I think it comes down to differing knowledge levels giving the different perspectives. As an engineer I just see extra mass without extra useable volume... compare for example ford focus and ford Kuga, pretty much built on same platform but the kuga is made to...

    Porsche

Yep, both Porsche and lotus hold their value like a boss. I ran an Elise for a few years and didn't lose a penny 🙂... pretty much the same with my boxster. The key is not to buy them new and not to buy one with batteries 😅 I know somebody with a taycan and another guy with a gt3 RS... Value on...

    Porsche

Porsche basically invented the premium SUV segment with the cayenne. They were the first of the sports car brands to jump on board and everybody laughed their socks off. 20 years later and they all have egg in their face as they follow suit: Aston, Bentley, jaguar, Lamborghini, Ferrari even have...

    Porsche

Nah, the macan is a good looker. The panamera is the problem child in that department, especially the gen 1. In terms of being the right choice 2.5yrs later; the taycan is one of the worst depreciating cars on the market....BUT, if you can put that aside then it's a proper weapon on both road...

    Workshop (Garage) Door Build

It's fine as sheathing for a building. A door is pretty similar other than the dynamic loading.

    Workshop (Garage) Door Build

Would cement board like fermacell give a smooth / nice enough appearance after the routing treatment? Cheaper and longer lasting than marine ply.

    Sander and vacuum

That's kinda genius, you could use a short 4 way extension lead and have all your power tools plugged in at same time as long as their power cables reached. It's not like you will ever have multiple power tools on at the same time.

    Sander and vacuum

Yeah you have to buy and add the Bluetooth module to those ones whereas MIDI and MINI come with it. Although you still have to buy the button separate.

Yes, in a way I'm glad I didn't know about that remote when I made my decision 😅
