Mitre Saw Station - Site Work

Hi All, Ive done a few searches for this but all the hits seem to be for workshop versions. What I want to do is for site work I have a dewalt aluminium mitre stand, which is pretty good, but missing some critical features. I want something that I can put together pretty quick on site (say 1...

    My Garden Room Build - 9m x 4m

Thanks. I used red western cedar. Expensive but lasts well outside and looks good if you maintain it. I like the cantilever design for pergolas because I'm not a fan of the legs getting in the way... Visually.and physically. The composite screens are a nice addition too, if that's your style...

Insulated Roof Construction for Garden Room

By the way, careful when you noggin out your ceiling not to use the same timber size as the joists as this will close up the ventilation gap. So if joists are 150mm then use 100mm for noggins and leave the 50mm at the top for the air. Common mistake hence why I'm mentioning it 😃 While I'm at...

Insulated Roof Construction for Garden Room

I think you missed battens from your build up, between membrane and metal roof sheets. Also, 100mm insulation is pretty standard for a heated space if your joists have the room for it. 50mm ventilation gap is great, but be aware that many don't bother - depends on how much you plan to use it...

    Handrail brackets

Thanks mate. I'll do exactly that. 👍

    Handrail brackets

Yeah but I think people have mentioned it's not the best for function. Best go for the bigger granny spec one.

    Handrail brackets

Clever idea but I can't believe this is what people are doing to fit these things? I think I might try and get longer screws - seems easier Having said that, easiest option is to use the 30mm screws and plugs like suggested above. Hmmm

    Handrail brackets

https://stairpartsdirect.co.uk/range/handrail-bracket/ Elderly neighbour asked me to put up a handrail for them on staircase. Seems fairly straightforward other than the bracket linked above. It comes with 5 screws but they are 3.5 x 30mm. I'm sure they would be fine for the handrail end but...

    Modular, dismantlable, MFT workbench

That's brilliant mate 👍 clever use of the castellation 🙂 Where did you source the ply from? I'm interested in that type of melamine / black top stuff but don't really know what it is. Martin

TOOL STORAGE CABINETS & RACKS... WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE NOT DONE BUYING???

I've never seen this before, seems like a really nice solution. I'm using french cleats which are great but arguably not a simple as your method 👍 Are there any disadvantages in use versus french cleats? I guess they are not quite as easy to take out as cleats....

    feasability

Well the obvious thing to do would be to cover it with membrane and then battens and then clad it with tongue and groove or composite or whatever like what happens most of the time. But I'm assuming the OP is looking for a simpler / cheaper solution i.e. some sort of durable sheet good that can...

MFT-style vs. Trad-style workbench design (is there a middle ground??)

Very interesting thread to follow. Loving the planning and attention to detail. 👍 Martin
