    New company, new career

The guy is pretty switched on I think he is doing it as fast as I would. I have supplied him with drawings to help out, and helped with the wording.

Yeah it's a beauty. It has a sedum roof too. And a sauna. The fascias are metal sheets, installed by a specialist. It was a guy local to billericay. I can get his number if you like. Martin

    New company, new career

A month already? Jeez 😃 It's not going great. I did have another enquiry, they already have planning permission and wanted me to build an annex with bathroom and kitchen. I quoted them and they seemed said thanks and haven't got back to me yet so I need to chase. One enquiry has gone very quiet...

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

You are all right of course. It's totally impractical, and a massive ball ache to achieve. Not sure if I'll do it yet but I'm thinking I will. Or will I. Needs some more thought. All the comments have been useful, thanks to all. Martin

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

Great job. Shame you didn't put any lighting in it 🤪

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

I think I was planning on using tape, perhaps these are too big for that though and I need a jig like you suggest. Also, I was thinking I could use my mitre saw to make the cuts, probably eaiser to set the scale to 30 because the scale is bigger than the one on my track saw. Might be worth doing...

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

They look good but may be too big

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

I really wanted to mount the LED strip to the back of the units but I am pretty sure it wont go round the 30 degree bend - they dont bend well, thats why I came up with the interior lighting option in the rebate Martin

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

So the more I think about this the more I think that I need to think about the lighting right from the start as I have quite specific (and totally unrealistic no doubt) expectations for the outcome. I really want the light to spill out onto the wall behind the shelves - I think this will look...

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

I wasn't planning on having a back to it - I wanted the light to spill out onto the wall behind. But your approach would add strength and I think I might need it because I want to just glue the hexagon joints as I don't have a fancy domino etc Is the split batten like a french cleat? that could...

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

I'm liking that idea - in my head I was totally overengineering it with threaded bars into the wall and such like, your idea is much simpler.

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

I fancy something semi functional and yet interesting to look at in my workshop What I am thinking of doing is some hexagon themed wall units / shelves, with integrated lighting. Here is a quick sketch I made, although I don't think I will put it on that particular wall: for lighting I have...

    Go hang... some shelves?

that's really handy - a good reference which I will proceed to lose immediately.

MFT and Rail Square - my thoughts

Lol good point about checking every hole 😅 I will probably never get around to it; as I say, I've already 'assumed' the CNC manufactured MFT top to be spot on anyway and if it's out I'm sure I will be notified by all the wonky creations I churn out using it.

MFT and Rail Square - my thoughts

I've just assumed the dog holes to be spot on, so maybe you are right I need to do a five cut and check it 👍 Martin

MFT and Rail Square - my thoughts

I thought I explained it but maybe not. I used method 1s to trim the left hand edge of the board against the dogs which are known references. I then flipped the board so that the perfect corner was at bottom left ready for the track square cuts Martin

MFT and Rail Square - my thoughts

Yup, it would be handy and like you say it means you don't have to have a huge table in your workshop taking up space and getting in the way just for the odd occasion that you need more capacity - you can adapt the table to the needs of the day. Martin

MFT and Rail Square - my thoughts

Is this for your gigantic 8x4 MFT you have just made?
