Not many! 😃 I just found out that the neighbouring cartlodge was built on strip foundations. I think I'm going to propose a 300mm raft with 600mm strip to building control and go from there. Martin

Thanks HOJ, it's all a bit weird, but from what I can gather the garages were all paid for by the home owners but somehow using the same plans. I'm not quite sure how is working but I think the estate agent and/or the estate developer is involved and is managing things to an extent. I'm not sure...

yeah it's weird isn't it, its not my design or property, but we have planning for it based on that drawing and its what they want. I don't imagine it will ever see a car. It's a new build area and they all have the same design garages with approved planning.

By the way, have you thought about how you will handle the corners when you do your shiplap yet? This works well: 2x2 (45mm x 45mm) in corners butted up to 25mm x 50mm battens at edges. Martin

That makes sense 🙂👍 Sound proofing is really tricky, and sometimes counter intuitive. What I tend to find is it's the air gaps more than anything that effect sound transmission, even the tiniest ones. I have a habit of going overboard when sealing up walls and roof, using spray foam everywhere...

Does anybody have any recommendations for a type of tile for the roof of a new build double garage? I like the look of the composite ones which look like slate but when I search there seems to be a huge amount of options our there with a huge range in price. I'm not sure I understand the...

I have made a request for a BC quote through Stroma Do you think they would offer advice on the foundations design before they arrive on site or do you basically need to build the foundations, then have them inspect, then modify to suit? Martin

Thanks HOJ, that's great 👍 We do have planning already yeah. I haven't contacted building control yet but they will need to be involved. I thought perhaps they needed a site visit to assess ground conditions before advising on foundations hence why I was thinking local to Burnham. Martin

That's a good idea and it's something I've considered already but I seem to remember reading they don't offer free consultations any more. But I could still use them I suppose if it solves the problem
