    Using engines oil on tools

Had picked up the idea that locks should be lubricated with graphite powder, but never in combination with wd40 or oil as you then get a graphite gunk. This is theoretical to me, I've never had any graphite powder, also I'd be reluctant to add any to a lock that had previously been oiled or...

Workshop Lighting, mixing warm and cool?

I bought a couple of cool (colour temp not fashion) floodlights to do a trial with, firstly the floodlights cast too hard a shadow for my liking, but also I found that the cool light just made me feel cold, a warmer light just somehow tells your body you are near a fire, and you feel warmer. On...

    Reciprocating saw on paving slabs?

very generous offer, thankyou. to be honest I've not got any immediate need, my original post was more of a hyperthetical, thought a masonary blade might be a useful addition to my reciprocating saw that I could see me using for a few cuts a year. seems like the general consensus is that it is...

    Using engines oil on tools

like that idea, pity I just threw out a can with a rubberised lid that would have held a smaller can perfectly

Does the Katsu 18v trimmer accept Makita batteries

not sure from experience, but my instinct is to say I doubt it, I know they mimick the design very closely but I think using makita's battery platform might be the last straw for makita's lawyers. That said maybe a 3d printed or shop bought adaptor might be an option

    Method of joining simple bookcase

i don't like mdf much, but that aside, I'd run a rebate side to side across the width of the shelves (underside) , into which I'd glue a batten of wood, side on so the thickest side of the wood is running vertically, essentially making a t cross section, that should do something to minimise the...

    Trailer floor/bed replacement.

if the ply is breaking down I would replace rather than cover it, it will keep on getting worse, out of sight.

    Reciprocating saw on paving slabs?

i agree, it would make a lot of difference, but it's firstly the dust and secondly the depth of cut that seem to be the problem (for me), neither of which would be affected much by a different blade. I was hoping a reciprocating saw would be a way around those issues. I might pick up a blade...

    Reciprocating saw on paving slabs?

Thats a pity, I thought it might be a less dusty alternative to an angle grinder, I've only got a 115mm grinder and I've never found it brilliant for cutting slabs

    Reciprocating saw on paving slabs?

Has anyone used a reciprocating saw on concrete slabs? My saw is fairly budget, an einhell one, so not massively powerful, not sure if that will be a limiting factor, also wondering what techniques people have found works best, most likely it will be trimming slabs down to width, not sure if I...

    Bath weight

this could fall into the urban myth catagory but I'd always been under the impression that a full bath weighs a ton, and a quick google says 1 cubic metre of water is 1 metric tonne, plus weight of bath, weight of person, weight of rubber duck

    B&D urban myth?

seem to recall being told that b and d tool that are green are of a fair quality, then at some point, due to change of ownership they changed to orange and the quality plummeted
