    Protecting oak sleepers

i used this stuff earlier in the year, too early to honestly tell you if it has done any good but everbuild is a good enough brand, would expect it to be ok, claims to be suitable for outdoor use...

Did you pocket hole project wobble then fall apart?

I don't have jig, but on the odd occasion I'd needed to use a pocket hole, and access allows, I've drilled into the wood in the opposite direction that I would screw, ie I've put a pilot hole in from the end of the wood, which allows me a better control of where the screw will come out, then I...

    What are these?

not sure the punches are brass, they could just appear a warm tone in the photo I agree on the second tool, more angles to see, and perhaps something for scale

steve I suggest you contact heronviewer (look on the first page of this thread) by Private Message, as he has been able to provide others with an english pdf. To do this hover over the name, then click 'start conversation'. I think I'm right in saying you need to have posted at least 3 times...

what sort of finish are you looking to get, for pallet wood I'd have said the holes, knocks, damage is part of the charm so I'd be looking to heighten it with something like black epoxy

    Pillar drill

I don't know much about pillar drills, but that does look like it needs quite a lot of work, I'd definately want to know what the inside look like, I see there's no plug on it, but I'd want to see and hear it working.

leather sheath for small serrated saw, how to protect stitches from teeth

thank you for using your first message to reply to my thread. I like the lookof the oval conduit I have used conduit, stationary binders, hose etc for this sort of job before, however I have a load of leather scraps and I thought this would be a good way to use some of them up. I think I'll...

leather sheath for small serrated saw, how to protect stitches from teeth

It isn't a double edge blade, that is just an image I found to show (badly it turns out) what I was talking about, it is just a simple panel saw, just a smaller size for a toolbox A quick google search on testing for chrome tanning gave me these two methods, I'll try these on some offcuts...

leather sheath for small serrated saw, how to protect stitches from teeth

Is there a way to test for chrome tanning? when you say welt do you mean the additional layer of leather? Also if I were to cut out the centre of the sheath so that the metal has airflow would that be enough to prevent rust? as per my 10 second photoshop below

How to strengthen a 19mm oak panel

As far as I can see even a 4mm strap really wouldn't be sufficent, you'd need to attach the strap edge-on to have any real strength, or an L shape cross section. that assumes that you are determined to go for hairpin legs, I think the traditional table construction with aprons might offer more...

    Mystery tool- what is it?

I'd tend to agree with this, hard to say without seeing it in the flesh, but I can see no reason for an offset handle. it would probably be awkard to use, so religated to use as a pry bar / rough chisel / paint can opener etc, hence the mushrooming
