    Cordless drill

I have a bosch and a dewalt 18v combi drills, I'm not always that impressed by the chuck on the dewalt, bits seem to have a tendency (occasionally) to slip loose. it seems like the main factor you need to look for is the torque, you should be able to get 65Nm for around the £150 mark. As you...

    18mm ply drawer base

In those dimensions the weight will be quite significant, and an additional strain on the runners , not nessacerily a game changer but something to bear in mind. If you follow cabinetman's advice on resting the ply on a rail running around the edge you could always swap it out for something...

    Vise With Adjustable Angle Jaws

I wonder if a beanbag would act like a self-forming soft grip in the vice, simple test use a bag of rice in a fabric bag, if it works you could knock up something pretty durable for less than a fiver?

    Tool chest

slightly off topic but I enjoyed looking at your website, found the article about pinch dogs interesting, must try that, especially useful when the clamps are running low, one suggestion, I have found in the past that those fencing staples go in easier if they are tapped parallel or even...

    lubrication for a tape measure

update, i wiped off the tape to clear off any dirt, then wiped over with some sticky stuff remover, left to evaporate off for a few minutes, another quick wipe to make sure there was no solvent left on the tape at all, then wiped over with a little bit of PTFE spray. Now works beautifully. thank...

    Tool chest

can't fault the build, or the finish, beautiful. That said I can't understand the appeal of big chests, lots of weight, awkward to store, lots of unpacking to get anything out. horses for courses. lovely work

Height of workbench for Mitre Saw

also re filling with sawdust, I remember on I think woodworkweb (youtube), the suggestion that a fence should have a rounded or rebated bottom so that sawdust doesn't build up and skew the angle of the cut

Settlers of Catan - or cutting hexagons...

as per Dr Al above my instinct would be to do it with a router and template, I'd give the template a couple if wings for speed, giving you the means to quickly screw the template to the ply, they can then be cut off afterwards and sanded back to the line

    Securing your workshop

sorry to here about your break in, soul destroying. a friend had a break into his garage, and then a repeat incident a few months later, once all the tools had been replaced. He now has a heavy metal bar gate / door that goes over the existing door, and has a security hasp setup wherein the...

    internal height with pent roof

do the architects drawing not give you dimensions for the internals? My instinct is always to avoid flat roofs, too much sitting water, if its not running straight off it is finding any weakness in the seal and eventually leading to the inevitable leak.

Height of workbench for Mitre Saw

I'd say having the table flush to the mitre saw surface is essential, as Is having an extended fence equally flush to the mitre saws fence. Take your time here and get everything perfect, I managed to get mine a fraction off and then had to undo it all and reattach. very annoying

What do you filter your paint with and into?

I use old tights, into a jam jar, but this is normally for things like lumpy emulsion for small projects, not for spraying

    internal height with pent roof

not sure if it is an option, but I wonder if you could do a two stage roof, shallower angle nearer the top, steeper angle nearer the bottom. Essentially half a gambrel roof How to Build a Gambrel Roof
