How to remove a carriage bolt from a post without damaging thread??

not quite so easy in lockdown, anyway it really was more about learning a technique than solving a problem. I'm always keen to reuse things when it is reasonable to do so

How to remove a carriage bolt from a post without damaging thread??

no they're not hugely expensive, but if a replacement means downing tools and going to the shops it is worth avoiding

How to remove a carriage bolt from a post without damaging thread??

still interested to hear if anyone has used a deburrer, they look useful, but then so do a lot of things https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yesiidor-External-Deburr-Chamfer-Remove/dp/B08DV6Y8K2/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=deburr&qid=1614621415&sr=8-9&tag=forumyield-20

How to remove a carriage bolt from a post without damaging thread??

As I say, I was clearing up someone else's mess, basically there was a nut missing, a tried to put one on, it was visablly damaged when I looked closely, he should have put on a new bolt in place, but instead just left it nutless, shoddy to say the least. Anyway, it just got me thinking about...

How to remove a carriage bolt from a post without damaging thread??

what is the best way to remove a carriage bolt, from a snug hole in wood, preserving the thread, especially the start of the thread, for reuse. Obviously if you just pound it out with a hammer, you mar the end of the bolt. If you put on a nut and pound it out as far as it will go are you...

    Your opinion about logos.

Don't want to go on the attack, but I'd be interested to hear from those in the know about how legal it even is to sell an item based on / altered from a design in a book, surely the author / publisher would have a fair claim on a percentage. Maybe such items are considered to be public domain???

How does one construct a metal shed with no instructions?

Annoyingly, you can't always rely on matching up the holes, I put a metal shed together years ago, with instructions, and still ended up redrilling. I'd definately try to source the instructions (do you know a make and model to google?), if no luck there then I'd do a google image search, look...

    finger wrench - 3d printed

I think I might try a home made version using a couple of inches of hose with a long V cut into it. I saw this idea and assumed you'd be able to get them on amazon for less than a quid, couldn't find anything similar at all. great for tight spaces and fat fingers.

Confession. I have a Parkside problem!

off a tangent I know, but the toolman taylor comment reminded me of a youtube video I saw a few days ago, apparently Tim, Al and a fairly well known you tube woodworker, april wilkerson, are making a DIY TV show, very much along the lines of tool time, airing on the history channel apparently...

MFT insert / blanks to fill holes

this makes sense to me, especially the idea of plugs that lock the board in place, although I would use it a bit and see how nessacery the plugs are. The only downside I can see in simply covering the benchtop with a board is storing the board when not in use, if this is an issue then there...

    Hello everyone

To the best of my knowledge (could easily be wrong) you cannot get aftermarket lights to go inside a router, and I'd be very reluctant to try and insert anything into the mouth (probably not the right word, the area where the router cutter sits). I would look into a poseable work light, and /...

    Replacing panels in a door

As others have said, I'd just fill, sand and paint. Seems like opening up the door would open a can of worms
