    Re-doing the Garden

re plastic decking, my impression is that it is harder wearing and cleans up more easily, doesn't rot etc. But a layer of algae is going to be like grease on a hard surface. A pressure wash or work over with a yard brush should make quick work of it.

    Parkside (lidl) hot glue gun

So many cases are like this, normally it is the cord that doesn't fit in properly, or is buckled round so much that it is damaged. My sister has a couple of tools in blow moulded cases where the chord lives permenantly outside the case, tied up with a rubber band. on the subject of the glue...

    Parkside (lidl) hot glue gun

they've got these coming up on sunday, thought I might pick one up. Has anyone tried this one? I've got a hot glue gun, but it really takes ages to warm up, and even then I think it could do with being hotter. Point being if the lidl one isn't that great I won't bother

    Organiser cabinet

That looks very successful mike, my only critisism / suggestion would be to have the top protruding forward slightly to minimise the chances of the catches snagging on trousers. But you'll soon see if its an issue in use. Is it dowel joined? Annoying about the availability of shallow...

    Ful-Use vice?

The placement of those cutouts seem odd, across the vice, would be very easy to snag your saw on the vice when cutting, also a 'v' shape groove would fit a wider range of rods. Can't help but feel there is a reason these vices are not more common / popular

Bowed cupped lid - is this fixable?

Just a line of enquiry so to speak, but i would look into steaming to soften the wood, then clamp straight and leave for a good amount of time to dry and settle. two issues I can foresee are 1. the glue softening and the joints coming apart 2. The wood re-warping when the clamps are released...

    Moss on roof

you've misunderstood how a hedgehog works, they don't eat the moss, they roll around on the roof tiles until all the moss is stuck to their backs

    Alcove shelves

keeping them flush would be better. That said a small overhang should not be a problem, extending the depth to say 200mm, would probably be fine, 300mm would be less so, you'd need to do something different in terms of battening / support.

    Alcove shelves

I can't see any reason structurally that ply wouldn't work for the battening. I'm not sure how relevant the 15cm chimney breast is, were you thinking of having shelves significantly deeper than that?

treating woodworm on an old bench?

interested in the charred finish idea, I'm assuming something along the lines of shou-sugi-ban. I can see this possibly putting of new infestations (though I've personally never heard of this), but I'm more sceptical as to what effect it would have on larvae inside the wood, I don't think the...

    Moss on roof

Seems to me your option vary wildly as to how accessable the roof is, it is one thing cleaning a porch roof with a pressure washer, another doing the main roof of a three storey building. I would certainly consider putting hedgehog brush in the gutter, it is not perfect but I went up a ladder...

treating woodworm on an old bench?

just out of interest does anyone know whether the dust created by the worm (beetle larvae i believe) is produced all the time, or only in certain months / temperatures? I guess what I want to know is will looking for dust always tell me if worm is active?

    Apron or Dustcoat?

I just wear old clothes, I like the idea of an apron with a hundred pockets and everything I need to hand, but I've never felt a genuine need to have an apron. A fishing bodywarmer thing with several pockets is something I can see myself using though, keeps the arms free
