Small Mitre Saw - Where can I get a balde?

Looks very similar to a Wickes one I had, might be worth checking if they still do them.

Small Mitre Saw - Where can I get a balde?

I suspect power hacksaw blades are going to be a lot thicker, and probably don't have the same mounting holes.

Rutlands one hand clamps marking wood

Even cardboard works, just cut up an old cornflakes box or whatever. Make sure it's the plain rather than the printed side against the wood!

    305mm benchtop disk sander advice

I would agree. I have a Warco 8x4 disc/belt one. Generic Chinese machine. Only thing wrong with it was the very flimsy bracket for adjusting the angle of the disc table, took me about half an hour to fabricate something more suitable.

Look at the date of the post, I suspect he may have sorted it by now :)

    O'Sullivan v Carter?

Ronnie's game against Ding was the best I think I have ever seen him play, mesmerising. Both a bit hit and miss in the final but Ronnie pulled it out of the bag again.

    Digital Calipers

I am guessing the reason is that the premium ones are generally pretty stiff, and you have to try quite hard to alter the reading appreciably by thumb pressure. Cheap ones are often made of plastic and bend easily, the knurled wheel is pretty useful on these.

    Digital Calipers

That's what the wheel is for on calipers, to regulate the pressure applied.

    Breaking News: Post Office Scandal

No fan of Vennels, but she does appear to have been the one holding the parcel when the music stopped. She should certainly be in the dock herself, but alongside her predecessors and many others. Could get a little crowded 😂

Eggbeater drills without heavy metal paint?

I think the reason most egg beater type drills only have small capacity chucks is simply because you can't really use them to drill big holes. Also the chucks tend to have very fine threads, so fitting a bigger capacity chuck would not be easy. I think the suggestion of a brace for the bigger...

    Breaking News: Post Office Scandal

I see that the overall boss of Fujitsu has also said much the same. Has to be a positive development, although I share your cynicism as to whether, and how quickly, they will put any money where their mouth is 😂

    Breaking News: Post Office Scandal

I was amused to hear an interview on Radio 4 with the current head of the Post Office Investigations Department, and the revelation that he was a former postman. Mum worked for the Post Office for many years, working her way up from working on the counter. I can't recall her job title but by the...

    Breaking News: Post Office Scandal

As I said in an earlier post the prosecution are obliged to disclose to the defence any material which might assist the defence, or which undermines the prosecution case. as far as I am aware this applies to the PO in exactly the same way as it does to the police, CPS or anyone else bringing a...

Post a photo of the last thing you turned

My daughter was really into all this stuff and I had to take her and a friend to a convention in London. Wasn't looking forward to it, but have to say the numerous cat women and warrior princesses rather brightened the day :)

    Canabis farms

Jacob and Cobbs you need to have a chat with some proper weed heads, who are very sad to behold. The really insidious thing is that they generally don't perceive that they have changed at all. Like any drug moderate use may have little ill effect, and Cannabis can have significant benefits to...

    I'm in the wrong job

You are probably right about the date. I don't still have any of the documentation as it was all forwarded to the buyer. I had never had anything to do with septic tanks, so started from a position of total ignorance. I found the EA very helpful, and everything you need can be found on their...

    I'm in the wrong job

You need to check with EA before spending any money. Recently sold my dad's old cottage with septic tank. No idea when it was installed, but certainly prior to 1960, the cottage itself was late 18th century. Simple system with outlet to a drainage field. Many companies will tell you you need to...

    Breaking News: Post Office Scandal

My understanding is that one of the biggest issues with all the various court cases was that the prosecution did not disclose relevant material to the defendants. The fact that issues had been raised with the system was clearly highly relevant, and so should have formed part of this discolsure...

    Steel T-shape place

Mild steel will bend very readily in the dimensions you give. It would need to be heat treated in some way to make it stiffer, which means starting with a higher carbon steel.

    Breaking News: Post Office Scandal

And of course Horizon still in use, with a multi million pound contract recently signed to further extend it. And they also have billions in contracts with other gov depts. Laughable really.
