A good point Jacob. Yes, perfectly possible to run ICE directly on hydrogen, similar to an LPG set up in basic layout, although at much greater pressures up to the evaporator. But still produces harmful emissions, because air is largely nitrogen which is burnt in the process and produces NOx...

With regard to the chicken and egg situation this is perhaps where government needs to step in and give things a nudge. Spain for example are investing €800 million in green hydrogen generation. Important thing is to get a grip of where we are going. It would be a shame to waste huge amounts of...

Very interesting. The scheme I was referring to was actually in Scotland. 300 homes are to be heated using Hydrogen. Not sure if they proposed to fit new boilers or modify existing ones. The project is currently on hold. Not it appears because of problems with the technology, but a row over who...

Because the battery is very big and heavy and takes a long time to charge. Using a fuel cell to power a vehicle there is little if any weight penalty over ICE, and you can refill with hydrogen in minutes and be on your way again. Think of an HGV. The batteries required to move 40 tons from say...

Fuel cell produces electricity and the vehicle is driven by electric motors like a battery EV. Only emissions are pure water.

Why would petrol heads have a particular liking for hydrogen? They are usually ICE fans, and hydrogen vehicles are electric, with no engine. As I have already said elsewhere quite a bit of what she says is at best a little disingenuous.

Have a look at our very own Wrightbus, British company who are a world leader in manufacturing green buses, both battery and Hydrogen powered, and converting existing ones. Contrary to what the lady in the video would have you believe it seems most hydrogen bus operators are expanding their...

A bit of a skewed presentation. There are a number of instances where she cherry picks stuff that is not at all representative to make her point. Like the Wiesbaden buses. Not suggesting there are not issues with it, but nothing like as negative as this would lead you to believe.

    Importing and customs

I have bought numerous small items, value less than £120 or thereabouts from France, Germany and Netherlands, mostly through e bay. Both business and private sellers. Never had any problems, only time I paid customs duty myself was on a washing machine motor from NL, still a lot cheaper than any...

Isn't there a trial scheme already planned, using hydrogen to directly fuel existing gas boilers. From what I remember they were going to pump it through existing pipework as a gas. Presumably some modification required to the boiler. I think it was in Wales possibly ?

    Sideways Pincers but for what

If you watch a farrier they usually just twist the ends off the nails using the claw end of the hammer, leaving a short projecting bit which is then folded and hammered down against the side of the hoof towards the shoe.

But we are the ones who drive it, by buying the £2 chicken from store X as opposed to the £2.50 one from store Y.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Plenty of evidence to the contrary, like the farmer who was featured on Countryfile. He tried to replace immigrant workers with locals. After a couple of weeks he only had one left of the original 30 odd. They didn't like the hard work for not a lot of money. But I am with paulrbarnard, if we...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Too right, a bloody stupid idea that would never have worked. I am sure the Rwandans are laughing all the way to the bank.

And fix the system so that applications are dealt with more quickly. Then genuine applicants can get on with their lives and start contributing to our economy, and the undesirable element can be identified and potentially sent back whence they came.

I think Labour should continue it, for at least one more flight.

I quite like the idea of helium filled airships. Everyone is in too much of a hurry these days :-) But for long haul I think the idea is to develop engines to run directly on hydrogen gas, rather than fuel cells or batteries.

Council fined £20k for saw injury - Saw Stop would have prevented this

I think the point was that you can deliver all the training you like, it is effectively impossible to ensure that every employee will follow it. In the case outlined why should the company be liable if, having given the worker the necessary training, they choose to ignore it. I agree that if...

Before anyone mentions the case of Wiesbaden, mentioned in the video, if you research you will find there is more to it than meets the eye. Across Germany the trend would appear to be in quite the opposite direction, with operators expanding their fleets of hydrogen powered buses rather than...

    F22s again...

I remember watching a documentary where Ron Dennis took a film crew on a tour of the McClaren factory. In one utility area he had insisted that numerous pipes be bent in such a way that they all remained exactly parallel through numerous bends, just because them being out of line would have...
