Near catastrophe with control panel failure on Hyundai Kona Car!

Very common. I remember restoring an old HB Viva, front indicators always used to go on them. Exactly the same units were used on some Bedford trucks, and much cheaper. Likewise the steering column on many Jeeps is actually a GM assembly, parts much cheaper from them. Owners clubs are great for...

    Farm Boy

Very similar here. I have an Amadeal 25 milling machine, very similar to yours. Wish I had gone for the three way dro. I decided to use the inbuilt one for the quill and just fitted a two way dro set up. The quill one is actually a bit awkward to read I find. Have a Harrison 5a lathe. And...

    Wadkin PK riving advice please

Like the Pratt chuck, I have a couple of very similar ones. As my dad was fond of saying "Not much you can't do with a lathe and a mill".

    Budget board stuff

Ok didn't realise you wanted something semi permanent. Not easy to think of a cheap option. The width, and desire to hang stuff on it means it would need to be pretty sturdy. Maybe 75mm framing clad in osb? I wouldn't go any lighter. You could just put a frame around each OSB sheet and screw...

What 1/2" flush trim routing bit?

The other issue is the bearings. On some cheap ones they don't last long at all, and if it lets go mid pass it will ruin the job.

I never thought that I'd say this but ...

I wish you wouldn't refer to "the Jews" when you mean the State of Israel, or do you? I hope not, because they are not the same thing. I would humbly suggest that comments like "the Jews showing us their true side" are indeed anti Semitic, and should be withdrawn. I know many Jews, most of whom...

I never thought that I'd say this but ...

I am not sure he is merely clinging to power. I know many Jews do not support the Israeli government in this. I know quite a few and even those who supported him initially no longer do so. But of course this is merely anecdotal, and based on the opinions of Jews living in the UK, rather than...

I never thought that I'd say this but ...

Some strange logic, and dubious "facts" here. Where do you get the idea that the vast majority of the victims of the Hezbollah attack were military? Most sources seem to agree that the actual figure is somewhere between 3 and 4 hundred, out of over 1100, hardly the overwhelming majority. So...

Damaged 60 1/2 block plane thread - replacement?!

I think it was the chosen method because the design doesn't leave room for the yoke or similar used on bigger ones. The use of two slightly different pitches is going to lead to a very small relative movement of the connected parts, in response to comparatively large movements of the knurled...

A recommendation for conspiracists/people who understand things the rest of us don't

Ah, "Jacob Syndrome" it's all clear to me now :-)

Circular Saw for cutting Oak Sleepers - recommendations needed

Used big petrol ones for years but now much prefer electric. Fine for smaller stuff and just so much more convenient, and quiet! Mine is corded, but I can imagine a battery one would be even better.

Circular Saw for cutting Oak Sleepers - recommendations needed

So useful. When I built my workshop I used an I beam as the ridge piece supported on other beams on each side. The joists secured above the beam on large metal plates. Have two chain hoists, a big old pull the chain job, and a little electric one for when I'm feeling lazy. Really handy

    Budget board stuff

If it is a standard garage why not just a couple of sets of bifolds. So not removable as such, but can be folded back against the walls when not required.

    Interior drill holes

You need to bear in mind that the smaller the bit the faster it needs to be run to cut properly. If you intend to drill very small holes you need a fast machine. The general purpose benchtop ones generally only get up to around 2000 rpm. They will do small holes, but the difference if you use...

Slight bow in 7ft length of wood

I have done the same. Once got a fair few 4.8m 6x2 really cheap because they were twisted and bowed. I have some really heavy duty right angle brackets on the wall of the workshop. Gave them a good wetting then clamped them to the brackets, as you say slightly over compensated for the twist...

Damaged 60 1/2 block plane thread - replacement?!

Looking at the Stanley site not clear if the one they sell now is exactly the same. Maybe worth contacting them. Or look on e bay USA loads of them on there, if you contact one of the big sellers of them they might have spares. The guy refurbishing it in the video says the damage you have is...

Damaged 60 1/2 block plane thread - replacement?!

Not disagreeing with you. But if they have to be posted from Scotland, where the OP is, then sending the whole thing a tad pricey. I can make a replacement to the exact dimensions to within pretty tight tolerances, so ought to be ok. But I agree it would definitely be better if he could find...

Damaged 60 1/2 block plane thread - replacement?!

I am coming at it from the assumption that the tool has been used by the OP for some time, and worked correctly until the threads stripped? If that is the case then a new part or parts with intact threads should get it back into use. Two things I don't understand. 1 why the different...

Damaged 60 1/2 block plane thread - replacement?!

Oh agree entirely, depends on the quality of it, or maybe sentimental value.
