Sounds dodgy. Make sure you get the money up front…👍

    Sold FESTOOL OF 1400 EBQ-PLUS ROUTER (1/2")

I’ll take this thanks. I’ll PM you now to confirm. Peter edited to add - I assume it’s 240v??

    Compressor question - connectors

I have a little 8-litre Hyundai - perfectly adequate for occasional nailing and dust-moving, and a fair bit smaller than a 24l. The compressors linked to above all state ~97dB in the specs; that’s enough to make me want to grab a hammer. The Hyundai is 60dB, but unfortunately now costs a bit...

    Is there a battery/cordless 23G pin nailer?

No, no experience with the 23g Ryobi; I have a narrow crown stapler (good) and 16g nailer (so-so) from Ryobi, both bought much more cheaply from a US supplier on eBay, and I’ve had no problems with either.

    Is there a battery/cordless 23G pin nailer?

I have an 8-litre Hyundai compressor (video here). Not to be overly cryptic, but I’m afraid I won’t mention or promote in any way the nailer or the company that sold it as - while the nailer is perfectly decent - the two are intertwined and the company are a bunch of monkeys and not to be...

    Is there a battery/cordless 23G pin nailer?

Pretty sure Ryobi don’t officially sell the 23g here (as mentioned above, neither do Milwaukee, probably a decision from their parent company TTI) so just be aware that any you find on eBay or Amazon will likely be grey imports. Nothing wrong with that - I have a couple myself - just be aware...

Mafell/Triton 'Duo Dowell' versus Festool Domino

He’s getting the Triton branding visible in a staged PR photo. 🤷‍♂️ Edited to add that clearly neither the model nor the art director have a clue about how the tool works, or they do but don’t care. Brand is all… 🙌

Mafell/Triton 'Duo Dowell' versus Festool Domino

For context, I’ve had the Domino 500 since it was available, I own the Lamello Zeta P2, I’ve used the Mafell Duo-Doweller (3 month extended demo) and I’ve had (briefly) three of the Triton dowellers. I did a video on the Festool/ Mafell/Lamello here. Long story short, the Domino is the most...

What Worktable for cabinet install use (Scribing etc)

I made my own installs bench years ago, and did a couple of builds - one an ultralight version - not so long back, videos here and here. The advantage of a bench with legs attached vs eg a Bora centipede or MFT top on trestles is that you can pick it up and move it around easily - something I...

    Biscuit Joiner or Dowels

Thanks. It’s aimed squarely at 90° carcass joints so not easily adapted for bevel cuts, and also requires a router, and some experience to get the best from it. For bevels something like the Peanut 2 mini jig and connectors work well but again requires a fairly beefy router. Depending on the...

Has anyone seen MDF like this?

Nope, never seen anything like that. If it was a ~3-metre board and definitely black, not very dark grey, then it’s not likely to be from Finsa as I’m told they only supply black Fibracolour in 2440x1220.

workbench for tracksaw - which direction?

It was flat as a strap before I cut the slots, but sagged afterwards. The bracing restricts the way that clamps can turn in the dog holes, but otherwise has no effect on clamping.

Routers and 'No volt release' switches...

Legislation came into effect last year ("IEC 62841-2-17:2017 Electric motor-operated hand-held tools, transportable tools and lawn and garden machinery - Safety - Part 2-17: Particular requirements for hand-held routers") that effectively requires all new hand held routers to have the equivalent...

workbench for tracksaw - which direction?

Just to clarify, the back yard MFT build was part of a Basic Builds series, using a minimal toolkit, and very much pitched at novices making their first bench with nothing but a tracksaw and a drill. The workshop MFT was my take on a non-mobile MFT-alike, designed specifically for the space I...

Door / Drawer sizes for a newbie

I aim for 1.5 - 2mm between the doors, but for overlay doors on a freestanding carcass I like to have the outside edge of the door flush with the carcass edges. So if you had a double wardrobe of your dimensions, as long as it’s freestanding, then your two doors would be 1900 x 449. In a run of...

    Festool CTM Midi Vacuum.

Yes. As Doug says above, the Festool L and M class machines are essentially identical in terms of filtration etc… the only difference is the flow monitor with the audible warning on the M.

    Festool CTM Midi Vacuum.

As above, unless you need an M class vac for site compliance, I'd go for the L and spend some of the difference on the bluetooth button. My original Festool CTL Midi is from 2006, was used daily in the workshop and onsite, and is still going strong. I added a new CTL Midi earlier in the year...

    Plunge Saw Purchase

To clarify, the Mafell saw I had was a loaner/demo machine from a retailer, and I have no knowledge of how it was treated by previous borrowers; the Festool I’ve owned from new. Yes, a scoring cut is easily achieved by setting it to 2-3mm, but Mafell make a big song & dance about their ‘special...

    rubio monocoat for Valchromat

I used Finsa Fibracolour in Anthracite for my benches and finished them in Liberon black bison paste wax. When I made my MFT top I preferred the finish from their finishing oil, and it’s held up better over time too. Best left overnight to soak in though, and needs a couple of coats. Never used...

    Sandwiching 2 12mm Mdf panels

I made some ‘faker shaker’ MRMDF doors a while back to ‘show’ why I prefer making them with loose tenons. I edgebanded one on two edges, and left the others bare, and after painting the only way I could tell which was which was because I knew the edgebanding was on the hinge side. As others have...
