    Electric Brad Nailer

The only decent mains electric brad guns I've found are by Maestri and Spotnails, and they run around the £200-mark; I have these and like them a lot as they're small, quiet and very easy to handle. But for around half cost of one of those you can get a small compressor and a cheap brad gun...

    Triton Dowel Jointer.

There is a dust extraction port, apparently - he just didn't use it  Don't know if he was using particularly blunt cutters, but it seemed to take a lot of effort to drill the holes :/ I couldn't see any way of referencing (e.g. pins/paddles in the Domino) either, so presumably it's just...

Zinsser Bullseye 123 vs Coverstain. Main differences?

123 is water-based, Coverstain is solvent-based, so fast drying and redcoat times, but only in a well ventilated space. Cover stain is an excellent stain blocker for larger areas (for smaller spot blocking I prefer the shellac-based Zinsser BIN) but think it would be a waste to use cover stain...

    Shelf supports - jig alert!

Could you have done the angled cuts on the chopsaw, or was the angle too acute? P

My new folding workbench - I'm after some feedback!

Not at all - I'm suggesting that the market is small, and increasingly competitive, e.g. from the UJK and Triton tables you referred to earlier up the thread, from people on eBay with access to a CNC, from people making their own, etc... FWIW I have an MFT but don't use it at job sites as it's...

hot melt glue guns - bulk offer

Depends on the application of course, but I've been using Tecbond 260 for a while now - as a general-purpose adhesive for a variety of materials (wood, metal, ceramic, glass) it's been excellent. Slightly longer open time than most as well, so allows for a bit of 'positioning'. I use a 12mm glue...

hot melt glue guns - bulk offer

Huh? Unless I'm missing something that Amazon link is to a Tec 805 for £60 when the eBay link posted above shows it for £45, and the Gluesticks.UK link shows a TEC 810 for £90, when the eBay seller has it for £75...

My new folding workbench - I'm after some feedback!

Nice bench - looks like you've put plenty of thought into it, and how it works for you, but I think you're making a mistake if you think that everyone has the same issues that you do with existing portable benches. By definition, you're trying to sell a finished product (with all that entails -...

hot melt glue guns - bulk offer

Been using a TEC 305 from Glue Guns Direct for a couple of years and it's streets ahead of any other 12mm glue gun I've had. Great range of adhesives from GGD as well. HTH Pete

    Floating bendy ply desk project

Similar to what Jake's suggesting (I think) but I'd be inclined to use a solid 18mm core for the top, and skin it top & bottom with 6mm flexy ply (or mdf) and just laminate the curved sections in flexy. I'm assuming this is to be a painted finish? IME the surface of flex ply tends to crack a...

    Lidl saw blades for ts55?

I haven't used the Lidl blades, but I did buy some cheapies off eBay - they were OK for rougher work, but I wouldn't go near MFC with them. By all means try them - for under a fiver, why not - but don't expect to get anything like the cleanliness of cut you get with a decent blade. HTH Pete

    Why is Lidl so Cheap?

Never been to Aldi. First experience of Lidl was in Greece. Compared to Greek 'supermarkets' Lidl is amazing; back in Blighty they're just (badly laid-out) warehouses with stuff in that you can buy. TBF I've only been to one here (nearest is 40 mins away, life's too short) but no thanks; M&S for...

Essential track saw accessories (e.g. for Festool TS55)

+1 to what Custard says - an MFT is more than just a board with holes in it! Incidentally, though I've never used them, the Walko quick clamps are a slightly cheaper alternative to the Festool ones. HTH Pete

    Cutting 2x2" timber

Well, if you're making a jig, then why not include some kind of guiderail and carry on with your circular saw - provided you can get it to cur full depth, of course. I'd agree that it's not the ideal tool for the job, but 100 off with a handsaw - no thanks! HTH Pete

    ..which electric nailer/stapler?

FWIW electric pin guns / staplers are generally quite a bit smaller than air powered models, and a cable is more flexible than a hose; personally, I just find them generally easier to handle, and you can use them more easily out of the workshop, of course. Not a knock against a compressor, or...

    ..which electric nailer/stapler?

Pretty much the only mains ones I'd suggest are the Maestri ME 606 18 ga brad gun/stapler, or the ME30-08 for the 21 ga veneer pinner - neither of which come in at anywhere near your £120 budget, I'm afraid. If it's just for workshop use and if you have a compressor, then an air gun might be a...

    Major Extension To Furniture Copyright

Why does it bother you? I mean, it doesn't sound like you're planning to buy one, so what possible reason could you have for being annoyed at how other people spend their money? FWIW a client of mine has an original 60s Arco lamp and it's absolutely magnificent - I'd be all over a cheap copy if...
