    Track/Plunge Saw Advice

I picked up the Titan for review a few weeks back; haven't finished it yet, but short answer is that it's great for the money, albeit with a couple of quirks e.g. it has anti-kickback built in, but doesn't seem to have a way of permanently disengaging it. But yes, a lot about it to like, great...

    Arse!

Agree with Matt Roberts - I've used a standard 48-tooth Festool blade (491952) to cut aluminium profile without any problems at all, so I'd expect your blade to be fine. FWIW I switched to the Festool 28 tooth blade (496302) as my 'standard' a while back and haven't noticed any difference in...

How Long would it take you to Make new Kitchen cabinets?

Interesting - that's the complete opposite of my experience with F&B - it's been exceptionally stable, very low metamerism. Re. The 'sniffiness' of F&B types; I once had a client say to me with a perfectly straight face that F&B was '...fine for the country, but you really need Paint and Paper...

    Domino 500 advise

FWIW I've used 4x20s in 9mm MDF, and 5x30s in 12mm MDF, all without any issues - albeit in relatively 'lightweight' applications. I use 5x30s in 12mm birch ply for drawer boxes all the time. HTH Pete

    Photo Negatives

We digitised our photo collection via the negatives using an iON Pics 2 SD scanner - has the advantage that is scans to an SD card, so you can scan whilst, say, watching telly, without needing to have a computer attached. Quality was certainly 'good enough' for our usage. The unit came with...

    The future of wood

I imagine there's a few customers out there who are convinced that it's already happening :D

    Sound recording.

There's been a quite a resurgence of Super 8 amongst the arty / indie crowd; Kodak introduced a new Super 8 camera at CES last year, and committed to re-introducing Super 8 film stock, which is pretty widely available - a quick google search shows Amazon carries it, amongst others. Bit pricey...

    Bookcase Rail

TBH that sounds like a CBA (can't be *rsed) quote from your regular supplier; Ironmongery Direct do an 'Easirail' handrail system, or a modular balustrade system in stainless that might be adaptable? You'd probably have to source your own hooks for the ladder, but not beyond the wit of man, I'd...

    Bosch saw track

Yep, already had this conversation in this old thread; 3rd party 10.8v to fit Bosch are readily available - I bought a few to try out and they work fine. Pete

Domestic work 110 or 240 legal requirements??

If it's a 1-gang (trailing) extension then the cheap & cheerful solution is to put it inside a plastic paint kettle, make a couple of cut-outs in the lid to accommodate the cables, gaffer tape the cables to the insides of the kettle so the plug/socket combo stays on the base, then turn it upside...

    Extractor,vacuum L class or m class recommended?

+1 more for the Midi - as Chippy above, I've had (at least) one for the last 10 years, great general purpose vac. Have switched to the CTL SYS for jobsite work now, but wouldn't want it as my only vac. Filters are reasonable, considering how infrequently you change them, bags are relatively...

Linear join on an oak worktop?

Joining along a straight length is best avoided if possible, and you don't want to do it either side of a cut-out - it's already the weakest part of the run, don't make it weaker by putting a join in! Also a join either side of say a sink would make it far more prone to water ingress. 4m lengths...

How to best approach a first box project

Welcome. Don't be put off by the Black & Decker dismissives - work with what you have and you'll discover it's limitations yourself, at your own pace. I don't know where you are in London, but I'm in W12; if you're within striking distance you're welcome to a workshop visit - not very...

    Oxford tracksaw tablesaw help......

I have both and rarely use the table saw ;) Wouldn't want to be without a tracksaw, worked wood for a living for a dozen years before getting a tablesaw, and then just for a couple of very specific cuts that I find it easier - repeat narrow rips in MDF and repeat angled cuts with the mitre...

How do I post a link to a webpage?

Or if you want to be clever you can use the URL button... And use the format shown:- your text or phrase here So your link would look like this:- Mod Edit:- Expensive Stocking Stuffer You need to pay attention to where the square brackets go, and be sure to include the backslash in the...

    Bow fronted bookcase/storage

That's brilliant, thanks - so it's just flat-pack then, lol! Really nice job, and thanks for showing 'inside the tent' - good to see I'm not the only person who 'eases' the edges of their dominos! Hope you enjoy a well-served break. Cheers, Pete
