Advice on which youtuber might review my new products

That’s the classic ‘maker’ error; *you* can’t imagine spending that much on ‘X‘ so how could anyone else?? 😱 You are not the customer. I was never the customer for the wardrobes and fitted furniture I made - but other people were. As I think I said further up the thread, price isn’t an issue...

Would you go to all this bother to save twelve quid>

I think I’d be more interested in seeing a chair turned into a pallet... 😂

    Cheap Remote Controlled Dust Extraction

Thanks. How immune are these remotes to ‘nuisance’ triggering? I had one of my vacs on a domestic remote and came in one morning to find it running. I switch off religiously now, but still. 👍

    DIY Rail Square

On mine it happened to be an offcut of ply from a reference square I made; there's a commercial one that's also angled - I think they claim it's to help reduce hose/cable snags, though I'm sure that it also reduces material costs.

Newbiest of newbie questions: what's an MFT for?

More detail than anyone could ever want About the 96mm hole spacing and the 32mm system in these old threads on FOG:- 96mm hole spacing MFT:- Any magic to MFT hole spacing? 96 mm MFT hole spacing And the 32mm system in general:- 32 mm system help I’ve done a couple of vids in the MFT here...

    DIY Rail Square

Yes, I think as I say in the vid it’s a bit ‘belt & braces’ but if I didn’t add it I’d get a few hundred people recommending it as a ‘pro tip’ in the comments. 😂 Nice job! 👍👍

Advice on which youtuber might review my new products

I think a good starting point may be the ‘Favourite YouTube woodworker’ thread - Favorite YouTube woodworker Started out as ‘favourite UK YouTube woodworker’, but drifted - shocker! 😂 Have a read through that, take a look at some of the channels that are mentioned and see if they do the kind of...

    MFT worktops, uses etc

Finsa Fibracolour is an alternative to Valchromat. A bit cheaper, but (currently) not as easy to get hold of.

Big thank you to Peter Millard

That’s an older vid, impressed you can still get them as a few folks have said they’re hard to find. Great feedback though, and good to hear these older vids can still be of help.👍👍 cheers, Peter

    MFT worktops, uses etc

Only one I know of is the dashboard system From the US; is $200 sensible??🤷‍♂️ Only seems to be compatible with the Festool MFT/3 profile though, which is proprietary. Must admit until I saw this I always assumed that the rail hinge was still under a Festool patent, as no other manufacturer has...

    MDF GLUE

Please don’t repeat this claptrap. MDF hasn’t been banned anywhere; if you have any concerns - or maybe just want to educate yourself - then read the UK HSE MDF FAQ Frequently Asked Questions - MDF

ALDI 10" bandsaw is available online now for £150 if you're quick

Might have just bought one 😬 - keep you posted Sammy!

    MFT worktops, uses etc

The old Walko workbench concept was a good expansion on the MFT idea - the MFT was always intended as a portable bench, btw - but sadly didn’t gain much traction, possibly because it made the MFT seem cheap in comparison. 🤷‍♂️

ALDI 10" bandsaw is available online now for £150 if you're quick

To be clear this is a 10” saw, the one I (and many others here) had was an 8”/200mm, so a slightly different animal. Also the Ferrex range seems to be tools Aldi have sourced themselves in the Far East, rather than the old Workzone range, which were mostly branded (eg Scheppach) tools, rebadged. 👍

    MDF GLUE

Yep, any fast-grab pva will do the job; I’ve used an awful lot,of different brands over the years and can’t honestly say there’s much difference between them. That said I won’t touch everbuild again - I bought some that went off - it really stank - and had to throw the lot away.

    MFT worktops, uses etc

Videos 182 and 183 cover the MFT basics, and as @marcros posted the current one compares the MFT/MFT top to a rail square for square cuts, and gives the pros and cons of each approach. If I get time over the weekend I’ll put a playlist together that gathers all the MFT-related videos in one...

    Triton plungesaw

Honestly I’m not convinced there’s a mid-range tracksaw right now - Erbauer, maybe, but I’ve never used one. Once you get beyond the supermarket saws, the Lidl Parkside and the Aldi (not recommended) and the Titan replacement MacAllister (I’ve not used that) then everything up to the Makita...

    Triton plungesaw

Yes, one of the most knuckleheaded departures from the ‘standard’ rail I’ve come across, no idea what they were thinking, it’s so restricting. Out of the frying pan into the fire, I’d say. I bought the Triton when it was on special - it was DOA so returned immediately - but I was surprised to...

Badly painted kitchen and F&B paint?

I think most painters’ gripe with F&B is with the cost, and the fact that it doesn’t fit in with their personal painting workflow. IME you need to use F&B primer/undercoat to get it to dry in a timely manner, and the F&B exterior paints are generally much easier to use than the interior - but...

    MFT Question

Also absurdly long arms. 🤷‍♂️ See! Yes, ceiling aside, I’m very happy with the bench height. 👍
