    Not another WIP! (now fitted)

Thanks. I have been out on a job for most of today building a cupboard around an immersion tank. I did get back into the shop by mid afternoon so did a bit more on the book case. I got the insides finished and attached the plinth. I also started fitting the Tonk strips although I didn't get...

    Not another WIP! (now fitted)

Being busy i haven't had time to post any WIP's recently so I thought it was about time. (oh, my God, not another I hear you say) You may remember the Fluted oak units I made a couple of months ago well the customer asked me to build a small book case to match those....so here it is...

    Reminds me of School

I had a request for a small stool over the weekend from one of my customers. She didn't mind what wood it was made from only that it should be about 10" high! :o I had some Oak scraps left around the shop so this was the obvious choice. I started it yesterday afternoon and completed it this...

    sawdust woodburner

I went for the Technik one on e-bay. I then bought all of the flue components from another seller on e-bay. (Cost more than the stove!) but it did the job. They do work very well and as has been stated the sawdust doesn't give out as much heat as wood but it will burn most of the day on one...

    Back to Oak

It is now all finished with the dividers in place. I have also got rid of the high gloss cabinet too so it's all go for the next project. :D

    Back to Oak

Thanks guys. yes Charlie, it is all solid AWO. I have again used the Domino for this but due to the movement of the wood I only glued the lower ones and slotted the upper ones longer to allow it to move. I had to use the smallest dominos for this as you can imagine. At the base of each of the...

    Back to Oak

I started another oak job yesterday, just a small one another brochure holder but bigger. Got it all assembled yesterday and got the finish on it today. I still have some small removable dividers to make but it is almost finished. Sorry no WIP shots but I was rushing.

    Spraying MDF

It really depends on how the first coat goes on. I would recommend flatting down the first coat though as there will no doubt be some dust in the finish. HTH.

    Doors painted at last!

The unit is now finished. Just thought I would post up the shots of it with the handles fitted before it gets collected. Now it's back to some more Oak. :D

    Doors painted at last!

Yes Chippy, if you look at the shot of the doors open you can see on the left hand one the reflection of the frame in it. Well Mr yorke i use Morrells 2K solvent based lacquer and primer. When the panels come out of the spray room they look like the previous photo with a slight orange peel...

    Bummer!

It looks as though I have hit an unlucky patch. I have just got two speeding tickets in two weeks! :( Both of them in my van and both while going to a job. Both of them were 37 MPH in a 30 zone! First one is an awareness course but the second will now be points and a fine, not to...

    Doors painted at last!

I got the doors polished and fitted today. Just the handles to fit now and the back panel to attach and it's finished at last. :D

    Spraying MDF

That sounds about right to me. Just be sure there is enough top coat on as the pad will remove the paint quickly when you start to polish it. As for the air pressure it should be in the region of 30 to 40 PSI but test it on a scrap piece first. Start with a low pressure and gradually raise it...

    Doors painted at last!

I finally got the doors painted for the curved cabinet today. After levelling the cabinet and trimming the doors for fit. it was all go to get them primed and painted. These are just out of the spray room.

    more painted MDF

Thanks guys. the shelf is removable as is the rail below it, (out of shot) The drop is about 2'4" in each of the spaces but the shelf is on adjustable pegs. The shelf is lipped with hardwood and yes, the doors were heavy due to the mirrors. Tim the mirrors were 4mm glass and were bonded to the...

achieving a smooth finish with paint

This is a touch up gun Mark. i can recommend the make as I have three of the bigger guns by this company. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HVLP-touch-up ... 0813919468 You would also need a compressor of this size to run it, but not a bad price for the size. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wolf-Sioux-24 ...

    more painted MDF

I got these wardrobes fitted today. I left a gap at the top of this one due to the ceiling being so out of true. Think it looks better than a sloping cornice and hides the defect. Customer was very happy with them which is what counts. :D Centre one has a removable shelf and rail fitted.

    Ahaaaaaa!

Sorry but I am the opposite, I just don't find the man funny at all. I rate him along side Ricky Gervase who also isn't funny.

achieving a smooth finish with paint

I think if you go down the airbrush route it will take a lot of work as an airbrush needs the paint to be pretty thin to spray hence lots of coats to cover. Best way for spraying would be a compressor and a touch up gun for that size of item. Of course then it would mean spending on a small...
