    Wine rack

While I am psyching myself up for the carving I made good progress on the racks today. I got the unit glued up and the plinth attached along with the top. :D

    Modernising houses in the 70's

I remember in our first home ripping off all of the hardboard from the doors, tearing down a badly built York stone fireplace and ripping the hardboard off all of the stair spindles that had been 'updated' in the 70's.

    Need a regrind

Your right Bob, I have had them sharpened in the past but the local company has gone out of business. They were cheap too.   I did wonder if anyone was going to ask about the rule going through the planer? OK, here is the explanation. I have/had a Veritas hook rule...

    Delivery Charges

I have just had a surprise with postage recently as I wanted to send a unit to Newcastle. It only weighs around 10kg but is 1500 x 250 x 450. Due to the size it had to be shipped as an item which weighed 46kg! and that made the cost £130!! I can lift it with one hand! Every company i...

Could you fit a small shim washer to it? I take it the first one is the one that's out? Not had this problem on mine.

    Wine rack

My next job isn't until next week so I thought I would fill in with a long overdue job of a wine rack in AWO. I first cut out the sections I needed and glued an 'L' shape together for the legs/sides. I cut arches into the top apron pieces. I also cut a double arch into the front apron as there...

I usually leave it a week too. It depends on my work load sometimes it is longer. I have also found them still giving off an odour after a week.

Been getting on well with the cabinet over the last couple of days. I have now got the door finished and am waiting for the hinges to arrive. In the meantime I shall be giving the unit a good sanding ready for a finish.

    Websites and promoting your business

I have to say that I have had quite a bit of work from my website. Having said that I have been in business for about four years now. My site is home made and it was a sharp learning curve to get it up and running. I started with adverts in the parish mag, yellow pages and the phone book along...
