    Women drivers

I really do have to agree about women drivers not giving way. Each morning I drive past a school with cars lining each side of the road so drivers have to give way to oncoming traffic. I can guarantee that a majority of the women drivers will not give way but a majority of the male drivers will...

    movies4men

It usually shows old action and cowboy movies most of the time but does have some good documentaries from time to time. There is an erotic movie later in the evening each night. (not that I watch them)

What do you use as a 'gripper', with your planer or jointer

Got a good bit of kickback when I planed my steel rule!  I also use gloves when planing.

    Lidl Parkside combination cutter

I have a parkside electric planer that is still going strong after 5 years, a Parkside workshop vac that is still working after four years but my Parkside 'Dremel' gave up the ghost on the second use! Oh well not bad for the price I suppose.

    Wine rack

I know it isn't perfect but considering it is my first attempt it's not bad. Anyway I got a bit more carving done today and had a look at it on the rack. I think it would have been easier going if I had chosen a better wood for carving as this AWO is a pain to carve. I also have to keep...

Dado blade for Elu 1251 RAS

It needs an extended arbour to fit a full set of dado blades on it and you will also need a wider blade guard as the original is too narrow. HTH.

    Wine rack

This job is for a friend who has helped me a lot in the past so I won't be making much money out of it. For jobs like this I couldn't really work on a time rate. Luckily I don't normally do this sort of work but it is one of those jobs you just wish you hadn't started. This job was on...

    Wine rack

I had a bit of time on my hands today so started on the carving. After laying out the design on the wood I routed out the outline. After all of them were done I started with the carving chisels to shape them. The first one is taking some work and I still have two more to do! This is...

    Wasps!

Wasps do a service for us?? I guess that is to make sure our adrenelin levels are up to scratch. I hate them with a passion and am surprisingly immune to their sting! (swelling and sting only lasts about half an hour and then goes) I normally tangle with them in the summer when working...

    Festool Domino 700 Series

For a few years i just thought of them as a glorified biscuit jointer.....until I bought one (500) now most of my jobs are completed with it as it is so simple and convenient to use. luckily I got mine cheap second hand but having used one now I would happily pay the high price for one. I often...

    fitted wardrobe/TV cabinet build

I have to agree with you Paneen, I don't like the idea of plant on pieces for shaker doors. Far quicker just to mill them up IMO.

    Couple of softwood jobs

I have got the wine rack on hold at the moment as I had a couple of small jobs to do. Got this gate built yesterday ready for fitting next week. Today made a start on these under stairs cupboards. Should get these finished tomorrow ready for fitting next week.

    Fitting brusso ball catches

I fitted some on a job a few months back although they were not the Brusso ones. no problem to fit them really. They have a shoulder on the top edge so they can't go too deep into the hole. (The ones I used did anyway) Once they are fitted into the door I cover the ball in felt marker and close...

    Wasps!

Now I am convinced there is something wrong with our weather, over the last couple of days i have had two Wasps in the cab of my van! big ones too! I know the sun has been out but it hasn't been that warm surely?? :?

How to get that High Gloss Finish

I tape the edges overlapping the top by about 2mm. When I polish the panel I ensure the rotation of the buffer is on to the panel away from the edge so it doesn't pull it off. When the panel is all polished I give a light hand scuff around the edge. I also use a lambswool bonnet on the polisher...

    fitted wardrobe/TV cabinet build

That does look nice. looking at the doors I would say they are not plant on sections but panels in grooves. JMO.

How to get that High Gloss Finish

yup, there is certainly a lot of work involved in getting that glass like look. What do you do with the edges to avoid burning through? I apply masking tape to mine and polish away from it.

    Blowing my trumpet

Just wanted to brag a little as I have an article in The Woodworker this month. :D It has been a while since I had anything in print so it is a bit of a buzz for me. :D ....it's that funny table I built.
