    Oak computer desk (In place)

Yes your right Nev, the runners couldn't be at the bottom as that is where the customers feet will be.

    Just coping! (now fitted)

Thanks for the nice comment John. I am trying to get these two jobs finished quickly as I have a stud wall and a summer house to build in the next two weeks. :D

    Celebrating 10 years in business

Congratulations Bob. Not surprised with the quality of your work, it speaks for it'self. I will be celebrating 5 years in a couple of months and like you have had some worrying moments but still enjoying it and still getting orders.....so far. I just wish I can be halfway as good as your company...

    Oak computer desk (In place)

I got a bit more done on this today. It's a bit of an unusual one as the corner it is going into is tight and close to a radiator so to save space I designed it with a slide out printer/speaker unit. It's almost ready for a finish now, might get that done tomorrow...with luck. :D

    Just coping! (now fitted)

Well I got the sidelights done today and now have a lot of sanding to do and make some trims. Then it will be hinges and catches ready for fitting it.

    Just coping! (now fitted)

Yes Deema, the glazing bars are held in with Dominos. I got the doors glued up today and made a start on the side lights. I only got the main frames done on the sidelights as I was also working on another job too. This other job is a small computer desk in oak veneered MDF. I should get the...

    Hitachi M12VE router

Hi Sammy, yes I have two of them and have used both in the table. They are a good router with plenty of power for using in a table. Only thing that seems to go wrong with them is the electronic module goes in the end.....but this takes a long time so no worries. Go for it, can't go wrong at that...

    Just coping! (now fitted)

Along with another commission I started work on some internal French doors in softwood this week. Having made a good start I soon found it was one of those jobs! You know the ones where you wish you had never started. :( Anyway putting on a brave face I got stuck in making the doors...

    Fitting skirtings

There is no wonder the basic hand skills are being lost is it! I love using power tools and will use them on most things for the speed of work but never on internal corners, scribe is the only way and it's not that difficult or slow once you get the hang of it. Bl**dy amateurs

    Attic robes

Thanks guys. I got these finished today as the door knobs turned up. I fitted the trim strip and the cornice and the customer was very happy with them. I also added a small trim strip to the bottom of the drawers to cover a gap and filled the screw holes. I am getting the duff runners...

So much for discouraging incandescent light bulbs

Afraid I always use the old incandescent bulbs in my home still as I think the low energy ones are rubbish! They just don't give out enough light especially for reading.

    Today's Challenges!!!

That bolt is very tight on the Metabo! It is a standard right hand thread but you have to be ruthless with it I had to resort to a pair of mole grips on the pad to loosen mine when I came to replace it, it did destroy the old pad but came off. HTH.

Can't seem to better 27 on my scores. Why did you post this? I am so hooked now.

    Attic robes

Got these fitted over the last couple of days. Had a bit of a problem with the robes as the ceiling swept up at one point more than I had allowed on the filler strip. I will have to make a new filler strip and return to fit it along with the cornice. I will have to then fit the handles as the...

    Buying Advice Planer or thicknesser

I used to suffer with snipe when I had a smaller thicknesser and it seems to be common on the smaller cheaper machines. I now have a much larger dedicated thicknesser 16" and never get snipe any more. When using the smaller one I used to allow a couple of inches on the end of each board knowing...

    Attic robes

My spray booth is just another room in the shop and pretty dusty too. I use an air fed mask although you can get filtered masks for short work with AC. which I also have. I used to use water based in my previous job and we had nothing but trouble with it.

    Attic robes

All painted and almost ready to fit. Should be fitting these later next week.

    Attic robes

I always use solvent based. My workshop is too dusty for water based.
