    Dementia?

I got a letter today notifying me that my pension is available to me from August 2015 and what were my plans for it of course. I was a little puzzled as I seemed to remember when I initiated the policy I gave my retirement age at 60 thinking I would be able to retire a few years earlier than the...

    Couple of quickies

After fitting a loft hatch and ladders the other day the customer asked me for a couple of plinths in oak for his model steam engines. i made these yesterday out of some scrap oak and left over lacquer from the display cabinet. :D Nice little pocket money job. ;)

    Display cabinet Finally fitted!

Well the glass arrived for this and couldn't be drilled to my specs so it was back to the drawing board! I had to add a face frame to it to take the new pivoting hinges. After running around like a mad man I got it ready for re-assembly again. I had already stained it so had to re stain...

    How did I manage without!

Now that is interesting. With the 10.8V batteries being so cheap it might be time to change back to Makita. I used to have a 12V Makita impact driver and it was fantastic and only the batteries let it down. i have also have a 18V Li ion Makita driver which is brilliant but had three batteries...

    Corner cabinet in pine

From what I saw of the other furniture I think it will be an antique pine stain.

Carry on using Zinnser bin or change to use paintable edging

I think so. it is very much like a high solids sanding sealer and dries very quickly.

    Corner cabinet in pine

I made a start on my next job today a corner cabinet in pine. Glad to say the customer is going to put a finish on it so it's just a build on this. :D I started by cutting up two sheets of laminated pine and cutting the angles on them. I then put the slots in for the shelves and the sides with...

Carry on using Zinnser bin or change to use paintable edging

Although the edge banding would speed up production on flat edges what happens when it comes to a routed edge? you are still going to need the Zinnser bin for those surely? There is a good MDF sealer from Morrells which is single pack and pretty much like sanding sealer it dries very quickly...
