    I've a 240v Skilsaw (7 ¼" I think) that you're welcome to have if it would help?

How long did it take you ( or your students) to learn to cut gapless dovetails

Very good! Just as I expected from you 🙂

How long did it take you ( or your students) to learn to cut gapless dovetails

I posted this a while back. It works brilliantly and is cheap. Like me .

How long did it take you ( or your students) to learn to cut gapless dovetails

Given your other messages and serious approach to working, I suspect you will be fine. Good lighting, careful preparation and willingness to learn will get you to your goal before too long. Good luck

sedgwick morticer price? what to look out for when buying

+1 to Deema's comments. I had one from new for about 20 yrs. It had a very slightly trapezoidal machining of the ways on the head. This meant it tightened when plunging into the work. Over small distances it was ok but when doing deep mortices it would bind. Adjusting the gibs just meant it...

    So this Dovetailing business?...

I think many amateurs (I am one) are taken with the desire to make things, and relish the challenges of the joinery that enable them - the design is often a means to an end. I find the technical aspect more intuitive and struggle with design, hence looking at pleasing pieces is as important to...

    Cathodic protection for cast iron

Having suffered condensation rusting I'm trying Metalguard. So far it's been perfect despite very damp conditions here

    Where,s Custard

Gary kindly invited me via PM to visit him in the New Forest when restrictions had eased, but when I reached out a while back I received no reply. A nice chap and I hope he's OK. If anyone can contact him, I'd love to pass on my contact details. I don't live too far away and have friends to...

Having trouble with wood finishes…hardwax oils vs varnish

I've used Ronseal Diamond Hard water based on an ash credenza and it looks good and has held up well. It needs to be applied carefully (not a slap on with a brush) but is nice to use with no nasty solvents

    DIY Clamps

At this stage I'd avoid spending too much on rarely used sizes, or clamps that are super strong. I've got a few 300mm and 600mm Record clamps which are handy as they can be joined together to make them longer. However, I hardly ever use them and far prefer to use my cheap, light, aluminium ones...

Hand Plane setup, sharpening & how to plane properly - in person course

I think that's really good progress and a testament to reading, thinking and then practising with commitment - a process that @Adam W. demonstrates in spades.

PolyX (Hard Wax Oil) on Elm

Peter, Is Osmo PolyX durable as a table finish, resisting water marks, scuffing from clumsy crockery clearing etc.? I've been using Ronseal Diamond Hard water based polyurethane varnish, but it's v time consuming to get a really good finish. Cheers Mark

    Winter storage, wax on tools?

I'm trying this stuff on machine tables of bandsaw and planer/thicknesser this year. I've tried various waxes in the past and all have "failed". So far, it seems good - polish the exposed metal with wire wool/scotchbrite beforehand; goes on v thin, would probably cover a football field and...

    G Clamps

I bought some Aldi ones for £5 and they didn't exert sufficient pressure. Having dismantled them, I came to the conclusion the steel on the internal sliding 'paddles' was too soft to grip the shaft. Maybe that was deliberate to avoid the plastic handle snapping! The 25yr old Wolf ones I have...

    Record cl lathes

I've had this chap for about 30yrs and hardly ever use it. For a handful of beer tokens you're welcome to it.

    Wireless radiator valves.

Just let me know if you need the repeaters. Only cost would be the postage. Cheers

    Wireless radiator valves.

I've got a couple of Wiser repeaters that I've never used if anyone wants them?

Anyone heard from Custard (Gary) recently?

I've not seen him around and wonder if anyone has any news of him?
