    workshop power supply

Something i ve just noticed on an associated thread . Is it not possible to install a curcuit of 4 blue outlets on 16 amp with the appropriate breaker at the board or does each outlet need its own feed and breaker direct from the board . The circuit seems to be a no no going by that other thread

    workshop power supply

I'm totally blind to all things electric. If i don't understand something ,i leave it to someone who does. I take it from the replies that i would need 2 circuits then. 13a for normal power tools and 16a for machinery (350 sabre/tp107/lathe/dewalt radial arm) i'll mention these replies to my...

    workshop power supply

i ve noticed a few mentions of 240v machinery tripping 13 amp circuits and as i'm just at the stage to start wiring my new workshop, would it be advisable to install heavier 16 amp circuits for these machines.

Guaranteeing building work - how long?

I think it would depend on if they were actually installed or just sitting as stock on site. most suppliers have terms that state the goods remain their property until paid for so would belong to the supplier although getting access to retrieve them could be an issue. if A chippie had actually...

Guaranteeing building work - how long?

probably just a wee bit of settlement here and there .the size of the plate base will roughshood over any small soft spot and can't really be helped. not worth argueing with a customer over though and a quick job to rebed them . i d tend to tell them to let it settle for a bit longer and then...

Guaranteeing building work - how long?

I'd say your mate maybe failed to properly prepare the site ,150 min of well consolidated hardcore but ensuring all topsoill removed first ,40mm layer of sand ,again compacted with a plate and then screeded off to a flat plane .The indian stone you refer to though has an uneven rear side and...

Rawhide mallet. What would they have been used for.

I ve been using splitproof marples(yellow and red ) since the 80s and never used anything except a claw hammer . A wood mallet is an old workshop tool that still has a use on wooden handled chisels with a brass furrel on some but no way would i be hawking a mallet around a building site .Never...

The mortiser is only for occassional repairs to furniture and the like .nothing big and i ve no intention of starting to make doors or windows . I'm in NI and very little 2nd hand 240v stuff comes up and transport costs over the sea would no doubt add quite a bit to one from mainland UK. Next...

thanks mate but i need something smaller due to space and not fussed about 2nd hand as the worry of needing parts on down the line. looking at a record 350s online with a free wheelkit and 3 blade pack .1k or there abouts and good reviews so that might be the one . many thanks to all the replies...

just wondering about the thoughts and experiences of different makes of bandsaw. i'm looking a 240v saw that is capable of a good level of performance without blade wander but its for occassional use and i don't require a professional standard although i wouldn't rule out buying that level as...

    Drill bits for concrete.

Anyone without an sds drill really needs to take the step and buy one .decent corded ones are available for 100 quid.no brainer . if that doesn't work, your hitting steel id think. thunderbolts are best for fixing and going into the centre void of the slab will not be an issue with them either

    Hunting masonry drills

SDS were the original bits with 2 stopped slots on opposite sides of the bit shaft SDS plus had 2 extra flutes added and obviously the chucks were changed .SDS will not fit an SDS plus chuck but it may work the other way round though i ve never tried . SDS max is simply a bigger vervion of SDS...
