Removing tiles attached to plasterboard - Shower room renovation

That looks good. Was thinking of doing the whole room in something similar - just not sure how confident I would be sawing it or handling large sheets on my own.

Removing tiles attached to plasterboard - Shower room renovation

Thanks, Steve I’ve used speedfit piping before and have been happy with the result so will stick to that. Do you have a link for the UPVC sheeting? Have used UPVC cladding on the outside of the building and very happy with that so far but was not very impressed with the corner fittings I...

Help for Parkside PKS 1700 A1 Sliding Mitre Saw

Thanks to all. There was no fault on the cable but after testing it started up! I think the power switch got stuck, maybe from not having been used for a few years. All working now.

Removing tiles attached to plasterboard - Shower room renovation

Thanks I am considering using acrylic sheet also but will have to look up how to work with it. Assuming it's not practical to simply fix it to the battens/studs, are the tiling board options mentioned the best backing for this also?

Removing tiles attached to plasterboard - Shower room renovation

Thanks. What is it about plastic pipes you hate? My own skills don't extend to soldering copper. Existing copper pipes are a labyrinth where things have been changed and added to over 50 years so I will simplify the routes when adding a new water heater.

Removing tiles attached to plasterboard - Shower room renovation

I'm re-doing a small shower room in a timber framed building. It is fully tiled with small tiles on plasterboard over the stud walls. The shower enclosure is slightly too small for a 700mm tray and is currently just floor tiled square area under 700mm. My idea is to remove both tiles and...

What is the correct chisel to use for opening metal paint tins?

I was given a tip many years ago to take a deep breath and breathe into the tin immediately before placing the lid back. Apparently more CO2 and less oxygen slows down the process of paint going off. Have always done this and it seems to work. 😄

Help for Parkside PKS 1700 A1 Sliding Mitre Saw

Thanks for the tip. To be honest I’ve only used it a handful of times so doubt the brushes would have worn.

Converting a Shed into a Workshop

I have used PIR on a timber framed holiday chalet and it can be bought in different thicknesses. I put it between the main gram and created an air gap on the outside by battening before fixing new cladding. Also used roofing membrane under the cladding. I realise this may be difficult from the...

Plaster (boarding) over an asbestos ceiling? How best to do it?

This surprises me as I had a survey done on a house I was going to buy where there was a textured ceiling and advice was to have it tested and removed if asbestos found. The same house had a small amount of polystyrene insulation in the roof space which was deemed a fire hazard. If you own...

Help for Parkside PKS 1700 A1 Sliding Mitre Saw

Thanks, yes have released the lever. Will continuity test the live and neutral without power when I find my multimeter. If no fault there, then won’t mess with the electrics further. 😄

Help for Parkside PKS 1700 A1 Sliding Mitre Saw

I just got my Parkside PKS 1700 A1 sliding mitre saw out of the shed after a couple of years. As usual it took me ages to set it up (every time I have to relearn as don’t use it regularly). Plugged it in and no power. Checked the fuse and this is ok. The cable is ok. Now wondering whether it...
