    Simple iPad stand

Simple stand using left over cherry. The hinge is a simple 2mm brass rod. All made in a day, which is good for me.

    Oak chest of draws.

Good info on tape, thanks I shall look for this tape. I think it might be useful to add it to my router ski jig to surface skim stock that’s too small to run through a thicknesser/ planer. Seem to be building more jigs these days.

    Oak chest of draws.

I have to be honest about the design. A trawl of the web some years ago turned up an American cabinet maker who had a similar design ,taller with an extra set of draws. Bigger overall in size. The cost was 6k dollars. Expensive but having made a similar one I understand the man hours involved to...

    Router bit becoming loose.

I changed my Trend Chuck for one I bought from Woodrat. I think it was called Musclechuck .One of the best things I’ve ever bought. So much easier changing bits under the router table. Don’t bend as easy as I did when younger!

    Oak chest of draws.

Yes, Phil I quite agree with you there’s no excuse I should have used better wood. What was I thinking? If I was making the draws again I would have made the effort to obtain better wood. Absolutely no offence taken. In fact you remind me to stick to my rule that if it’s worth doing then do...

    Oak chest of draws.

Sorry, should have given more details. Just simple well chosen pine. I thought it would contrast well. Was going to use beech, but didn’t have enough stock. R

    Oak chest of draws.

Photos of a oak chest of draws I made a couple of years ago. A lot of work and it took quite awhile in the making. I wanted to make something out of quality wood ,bit of a revolt against cheap MDF, chipboard mass production furniture. The oak came from BRITISH HARDWOODS, in Crosshills, near...

    New router table.....the final one!

Unfortunately I don’t use a computer for drawings (no CAD) just sort of build as I go. Have sketches with ideas and maybe change things as I go. As mentioned I have built two router tables before, so pretty much know what I need. The sturdy bench that the table is mounted was built many years...

    (More) Kity 419 Saw mods

A really good idea. I am considering doing this mod on my kitty 419. Whose rise and fall is getting a bit tired. Blade angle wanders a bit also. Great stuff.

    Drawing software.

Thanks everyone for your experiences and advice. I do think ,as suggested , that my mini iPad is inadequate. I shall continue to use pencil and paper until I look for a suitable laptop. Will then have to get to grips with learning the whatever package.

    Drawing software.

Hi, Can anybody recommend a software package for my iPad that will enable me to design and modify woodwork ideas easily, hopefully at a reasonable price. I do most of my sketches on paper. Lots of rubbing out, redrawing etc. I have had a look in the app stores and they look far to complicated...

    Japanese style night light

A night light to match and accompany the Japanese style wardrobe posted around the 29th March .The inner lights are a LED strip available on on Amazon with remote control to change colours. Matching wardrobe. Which is easily taken apart and moved when moving house.

    New router table.....the final one!

Thank you , No plans really , looked at lots of different designs over the years and just picked out what I thought was the best and most versatile . Wanted to keep the costs low, hence hold downs, guides etc. are homemade. The most expensive parts were the dust extraction plumbing. When asked...

    Digital callipers.

Thank you all for your thoughts, experiences with digital callipers. Most useful. Both high and cheaper prices seem to have merit. One thing I will take away and err to in the future is to take batteries out after a woodworking sesh. Often thought in the past that my batteries always seemed to...

    Digital callipers.

Hi Gerry, Problem . Set to zero, measure drill, gap etc. Put them down without switching off ,when picked up again reading would fade ( like poor battery, which isn’t as many new batteries tried) or reading would change. Also both models used to run down batteries far to quickly.

    Digital callipers.

Can anyone recommend a good make/source for a reliable pair.

    Digital callipers.

Am I just unlucky or am I buying to cheap. I will soon be in the market to have to buy my third set of digital callipers. I’ve spent between 20 and 30 pounds at different times. I’ve had the last set for about 2 years.. looked after them and returned to their cases after use. On both set they...

    New router table.....the final one!

This is the third router table I’ve made over ten years. The first one was made with MDF , Formica faced with a variety of fences ,both home made and purchased. Didn’t quite work out right. Either the fence was too low making it difficult to run router large vertical panels, or chip extraction...
