Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

How much description of the item was there? Were there decent pictures of the item? Have to agree with Paul though - its almost rule number one to ask questions before committing to buy anything.

    Bandsaw Identity ?

I'd say something like a Draper BS315 / 76237 but the design has been sold under various names if you're looking for parts, manuals etc.

    Bench top router table laminate

For mine I used a free offcut of kitchen worktop but even just a simple piece of MDF or plywood with some sort of protective finish applied would likely do the job.

slow-grown, high graded quality wood !!!

I don't know if they're still around but a while ago on ebay there were a few sellers advertising "rustic" coffee tables for more than £100, they were nothing more than pallets with castors fixed to the underside.

Aldi Bandsaw ( new model) coming soon. Buy it or choose other model

I noticed it on HotUKDeals earlier today and I did wonder if this thread would start up again. Let's see what the buyers' experiences are like this time...

    Does anyone remember...

An Al-ko system 5005 combiworker? It was a prize on Bullseye a few times..

    Dado sets for ags10

I bought a Dewalt 7670 dado set a few years ago, it wasn't cheap and took nearly two months to arrive from the US however on the few occasions I could be bothered to set it up the results were pretty good. In the end I found the blade swapping, setting up etc. too time consuming so it collected...

    Crazy world

For me it has: I paid £55 for the printer (a Dell 1250c) in 2012 and paid about £14 for four compatible toners about 4 years ago of which I've installed two so far. My printing needs are very minimal so its worked out very well.

    Crazy world

I don't miss owning an inkjet printer at all, laser printers are cheap enough these days for those who print infrequently.

    The Apprentice

The last series I watched must've been around 2012 and even then it started to feel scripted or somehow manipulated for people to intentionally fail for the sake of ratings. It's a shame because this used to be a good programme in its early years.

Kity 367 very nice condition or triton thicknesser?

Go with the Kity - assuming its a 637 - as depending on what you make it will probably prove to be more useful over a single function thicknesser.

Any must watch woodworking documentary movies?

How strange - I came here to see what others had recommended as worth watching as per Tibi's original question but once again it appears another thread completely unrelated to workshop safety is turning into a discussion about workshop safety.

    DIY edge belt sander

I also have plans to build an edge sander of some description one day, not to mention a decent sized bandsaw and possibly a 12 inch planer. I've already collected a few induction motors and to me using one of those over something like a treadmill motor just seems easier: they're readily...

    Which bench top thicknesser?

I've previously owned the Electra Beckum version of the Metabo, it was a very capable machine.

How do these cuts not cause kick back?

Sadly that wont happen. I too like John's videos however you can put money on there being a similar thread or discussion the next time he does something that hits a nerve with a few here.

    Aldi Ferrex 10" Bandsaw stand

The wheels look small enough that if you encountered say a trailing wire on the floor whilst moving it around there's a chance it may topple over. Have you tried to use it in the new orientation? Just curious as to whether despite having locking wheels (cant tell if its just two or four) it...

    Festool with sawstop.

Personally I cant buy into the technology and I don't think I ever would if became more accessible over here. The attitudes towards it being the best thing ever which can be found all over the 'net I cant read without at least one raised eyebrow. I would be a little more concerned in trying to...

    I don’t want to build a workbench

In my old workshop I had a NYW-inspired assembly table and that suited me just fine for what I was doing. When I get a new workshop its likely I will make another one, spending time and money making a "proper" workbench with all the mod cons just doesn't appeal to me.

    What do you collect

I collect shot glasses - all in storage right now but I must have well over 150. When I buy a bigger house I will build some sort of display cabinet for all of them.
