I’m selling this on behalf of my uncle, who’s downsizing his hobby workshop. I don’t know the origin of the drill; my uncle traded a motorcycle for it, with a friend, in the 1970’s, and it’s been used by him as a hobbyist ever since. It was mounted on a robust, stable, mobile base, last year...

I had a poor experience of these; returned a 12” twice, to get a truly square one… the 3rd was still slightly off. It was ok for making form work

Then if it is working with the external motor why not just use it, saves any expense or hassle… @Spectric … Overwhelmingly, because I’ve already pinched that motor for another purpose!

I finally got the time to open up the drill… the original windings are still there. I will take a closer look and see what i can work out. As to @sawtooth-9 ’s question… I’m playing, certainly, but I want a working machine at the end of it!

If you look closely at the specs, there are some differences, so it is not simply rebadged, but shares some (many components); whether those differences are significant, is down to the use case of the individual.

Have you looked at Makita? Excellent tools, and my drill/driver set was made in Japan.

No, not one with a right-angled attachment. However, my brother makes and installs bespoke kit he’s, with lots of intricate detailing; he uses the Makita 12v drivers and finds them fantastic. I’d be interested to see the use case that demanded something more complex.

Get some tools in your hand! I discounted several for lack of local availability, and Dewalt and Bosch based on ergonomics, that being a very personal thing; I went for Makita. My brother’s joinery business also switched from Panasonic (which served them very well for a long time) to Makita...

Makita do a 12/18v charger which could make juggling the charging of multiple batteries easier, alongside your existing charger.

Likewise, I’m reasonably ambitious, so can actually use the jigsaw with my right hand. But I shouldn’t have to, especially for a Top Shelf tool! 😤
