    Which Table Saw?

I take from what Deema said, that you could well require more engineering skill with a new saw than an old one! Many threads on here are testimony of that. The Startrite I linked to is actually from a dealer. I’ve had various saws from Wadkin, Startrite and Sedgwick, over the years. I’ve sold...

What’s the purpose of selling? Simply to cover costs and move on to the next project, or to make a profit?

    Which Table Saw?

For exactly that reason, I’d suggest one of the smaller Startrite saws. Unless a site saw is going to be used as intended, ie taken from site to site, the chances are it will be mounted on a stand or built into a bench, loosing any advantage of size. A small cabinet saw can be made mobile, to...

Industrial unit rental/purchase for hobby use

How about a maker’s space? They seem to be rather more commercially minded than men’s sheds, with longer opening hours, more space etc.

Industrial unit rental/purchase for hobby use

It seems pretty sane to me. Of course, it all depends upon finding the right place; one that accommodates your needs, that is convenient and for a reasonable price. If you were able to buy, so much the better. Would sharing a space be an option?

    Steel Beam question

Exactly as Mike says. When I’ve bought steel in the past, there’s always been the option of having it painted, or doing so yourself.

    Festool Domino DF700

And if I recall, some of theirs have a few unique features/capabilities, though I can’t remember what they are! Freud is a pretty unloved brand, on the used market; their routers go for very little, likewise their biscuit jointers, though they’re simple, solid, reliable machines.

    Festool Domino DF700

I’d recommend the Mafell biscuit jointer. It’s an excellent machine. Worth looking out for a used one. There are also a few other brands using the Mafell mechanism, with their own motor, such as Wurth.

    Aftermarket fence for router

Bosch sell a micro-adjustable fence, but whether the rod spacing and diameter are compatible, I couldn’t say. However I do have one that I could measure.

    Tool and workshop organisation?

Old office furniture turns up on freecycle now and again. It tends to be very robust! I have a floor to ceiling, lockable tambor (sp) cabinet, with shelves above 3 draws. It neatly take 3 sustainers, side by side. So for my power tools, this makes very convenient, secure storage.

    Steel Beam question

In my experience, structural engineers can be massively over cautious; as another engineer, with no skin in the game, and they’ll tell you a lighter solution will work. However, the reason for this is likely professional liability! So, I can’t answer your question, but would advise caution...

Looking for a Morticer, advice please

I can’t comment specifically, though someone else might. But when buying machines I tend try not to be too focused on one brand or model, but on the features/capability I need, together with location/viability of getting it to my workshop.

If you’re limited in space, to the extent that bench mounted is your only option, then I would recommend the delta model, they being of better quality than the others that I’ve seen. One “feature” of the delta is that the turret can be turned 180 degrees on the base, and the machine then...
