Yes, I’m swinging back toward VFD + 3ph motor. Thanks for the input!

    DC Motors

I have a Seimens VFD on my table saw, so I’d probably use another of those, as I’m beginning to get my head around the way that works!

    Meddings S68 motor

Hello, I’ve a Meddings S68 floor standing, geared pillar drill, that an electrical engineer who previously owned it, converted to a single phase motor; in order to achieve smoother running, better torque and finer speed control, I’m thinking of reverting it to three phase. I’ve posted...

    DC Motors

Thanks Sploo, That’s interesting; I hadn’t considered noise. The drill is floor standing and 180kg, so size and weight of the motor are not really considerations.

    DC Motors

Are you saying that hands down, you think that’s a better solution than a DC motor?

    DC Motors

Why don’t they sell fixed base routers in UK?

The Bosch mentioned previously is excellent. I still have an older model too, also with both fixed and plunge bases. I do use both bases regularly.

    DC Motors

This may not be the best section for this query, but here goes… I’m toying with the idea of switching my 240v AC motor from my pillar drill, with a DC one. It’s as much about the project itself, as the objective usefulness! So, as long as I don’t impede the performance, I’m happy to experiment...

    Rosewood veneer: sources

Hello, I’m hunting for a source of rosewood veneer. Simple enough! Except that I need a sheet greater in width than 410mm. Can anyone suggest a good source? Thanks very much!

    Hello… again

Good evening one and all, I was hung around here for a while, some time ago, and having been busy with other things, I’m not getting back to wood working. Unfortunately, I‘ve no idea what my old credentials were (who know, I may run across myself as I delve into old posts in search of...
