Festool saw with 3rd party track

Yes, I agree. I think a lot comes down to ergonomics, which is very personal. However, I do excuse the left-hand unfriendliness of the mafell jigsaw!

Festool saw with 3rd party track

This is an important point; for any given item you will find a gazilion (in round numbers) reviews from people with no experience other than with that model; they can only affirm what they have been told about the tool, rather than, as Peter and others do, give a firsthand comparison.

    Modification of Two-Bag Extractor

Thanks Brian, Logically, I thought that must be the case, but as I said, I defer to greater experience, knowledge and understanding of these things! As you say, a little testing will not go amiss. thanks Pete, That’s all helping the thought process. I had wondered about stacking filters. It...

    Basic router questions

As Spectric describes, there are items such as the legs or base of a router table that are easy and cheap to make, in a way that is tailored to your needs, allowing you to spend more elsewhere, such as tooling. Secondhand is often a good option, but of course, if you have a list of jobs...

    Basic router questions

More money will get you nice things such as more sophisticated soft-start and speed control, better ergonomics (though that’s a personal thing; no Mafell tool that I own is friendly to my left-handedness), through-table height adjustment, and so on…

    Modification of Two-Bag Extractor

Ah, but as I said, I’m only attaching one machine, directly to the 125mm inlet; we can ignore the 3 100mm inlets.

    Modification of Two-Bag Extractor

Thanks Doug, That’s not a million miles away from my thinking… The question remains whether or not to get rid of one bag/filter. The cross sectional area of the rectangular section ducting of my extractor is 18,600mm2, versus 12272mm2 for the 125mm pipes. So I’m currently struggling to get my...

    Modification of Two-Bag Extractor

Oh, it might be worth mentioning that I’m toying with the idea of adding a cyclone or battle.

    Modification of Two-Bag Extractor

Thanks Brian, Yes, I’d already thought through the ramifications of the required support, so it’s just the airflow considerations that I’m interested in. Please excuse my ignorance on the subject; though I’ve a rudimentary understanding of this stuff, I’m sure you and others here have a more...

    Modification of Two-Bag Extractor

Good morning, As I re-establish my workshop, I’m rationalising my dust extraction, including finally upgrading from a bag to a cartridge filter. My principal extractor in a two-bag unit, similar to the one pictured. I will only have one machine attached at a time, through the 125mm inlet...

    Buying cheap tools

Absolutely agree; second hand it fantastic, on so many levels. I’ve had top-shelf stuff cheap or free, all in excellent condition.

    Buying cheap tools

This is the one cheap tool I would heartily recommend; mines an Erbauer version, but having used lots of breakers (hydraulic, pneumatic and electric), this is hands down the most effective, irrespective of price. Of course, if you break seriously tough material, day in, day out, you’ll destroy...
