    Bridgeport Mk1 2HP Milling Machine re-commissioning

And much to my amusment I have just downloaded the manual for it from the Heidenhain Website: https://content.heidenhain.de/doku/oma_vrz/html/en/n0/n145/n164/n164.html Dated December 1985

    Bridgeport Mk1 2HP Milling Machine re-commissioning

It does! But I was going to independantly feed my transformer in the electrical cabinet with 220V Single Phase and just run all the 110V circuits from that Before I hook anything up though I'm going to go ID every connection in the cabinet, and bought a load of numbered wire markers cheaply...

    Bridgeport Mk1 2HP Milling Machine re-commissioning

So I had one of a my 'sod it' moments over the weekend and decided to get some bits in with a view to getting the Bridgeport running sooner rather than later. It needs less work than the Harrison, so I thought I'd line the bits up ready to get it running, after a couple of decent conversations...

The pump arrived...I'm glad that I only spent £8 on it...rather a lot of painted plastic to look pretty in pictures! Still, it was only £8...

I suspect rather a lot of us have similar auxilary storage units... In other news, just bought one of these 'Manual Lubrication Pump'(s) from Amazon, cheap enought to give a try...

As for de-greaser, I've got 20 litres of Jizer, and then 5 litres of Bilt Hamber Surfex-HD concentrate too...failing that; heating oil...

This is in part why I'm confused, I could have sworn I had a set of large diameter fibre gear wheels and was a bit surprised that they didn't come out of either of the two boxes of bits. I'm now scratching my head trying to think where they could be... Potentially in one of my Auxiliary...

Hum, I'm wondering if I have another box somewhere with bits in, because I could have sworn I had a set of change wheels...

A good degrease, followed by wire brush session then a soak in heated Bilt Hamber De-ox-C with regular sessions with a brass wire brush tends to bring most steel up well I find...the smaller bits go in my heated ultrasonic cleaner and some surplas stainless coffee pots filled with De-ox-C...

More detailed pics of the various bits: The adjustable feat have pads underneath them that have aluminium ID tags on them, I forgot to take a close up pic but I beleive they are meant to be an isolation damper.

So, having got bored squeezing into a corner to clean the machine I got the pallet truck into the workshop and moved things about to move the Lathe into a much more accessible position: And did a bit more cleaning: I also got all the bits out that came with the Lathe too: So 6 chucks...

That spring combined with the pump design deliver grease at 400 bar, so I can well beleive the seals really don't like being left under pressure with oil in! I saw that there is an optional second piston for oil use...now if only I had a way of machining one... :ROFLMAO:

I have 3 trusty Wanner grease guns of varying size, one is my dad's from the early 60's, I gather it might be possible to convert them to an oil gun

...everything is minging and a bit rusty...currently wiping everything down with ACF50 as it likes to seap its way into every crevice, helps kill rust and eventually finds its way under some of it to help lift it off with a rag

@Sideways my ABB motor is I'm afraid a 2 pole, not 4 @Fergie 307 regarding oiling I had pondered copying the slide-way oiler that's on my Bridgeport; it's a bit like a Scottoiler found on 'bikes for constant loss chain lubing comprising a pump up sealed reservoir with a number capillary hoses...

    Bridgeport Mk1 2HP Milling Machine re-commissioning

So, rolling back a bit to the transformer and 110V single phase, am I correct in understanding that the 110V it is supplying is feeding the controls, probably the light, and the DRO so therefore could be fed a 220V Single phase input, while the table drives and spindle motor are fed 3 Phase 415...

Thanks chaps! Both of your (Fergie and Sideways) threads are what brought me to this forum. I joined the Yahoo Harrison group years ago, must dust off my access! Thanks also for the top tips there Chai... As it happens another mate (Herbert as we call him, and former minion of Siesmologist...
