Good idea 🙂. I'm going to try that 👍

Thanks, what do you guys use for sanding stuff like this? I found some half inch wide scroll sanders which fit in place of a scroll saw blade, but they are a ridiculous price and wouldn't arrive for 3 weeks! Cutting circles

I just received some #8 and #0 spiral blades. Not tried the #0 yet, but the #8 did a very quick and clean job cutting this little candlestick from 38mmx38mm stock. My #2 took much longer to cut through 38mm stock for the squiggly thing which I will make into a small table lamp. I chamfered the...

The bike is very impressive, I'm not thinking cnc or scroll saw 👍😉 Very neat woodwork 👍

    85mm saw choices

@Sideways thanks, I'm not experienced with woodworking, but enjoy it and keep practicing and improving. This saw would be used for all manner of small things I want to make, like bird tables and bird boxes, wooden toys and box type things etc. My daughter has also just commissioned me to do some...

    85mm saw choices

I have a large, heavy circular saw, which is fine for big plywood sheets, but most of my work is small, so I'm in need of a small convenient circular saw and looking for advice. The following item has good reviews and I love the idea of the handy mitre base that I think would be very useful for...

That's it then! Got finer and coarser sizes of spiral blades ordered, ready for more trial and error. The devil should be well satisfied 👹👍.

    Dust extraction

The lower container should collect 99.9% of the dust, extremely fine particles may still get through so a fine filter is placed at the air outlet.

    Dust extraction

@SaintD56 I will post some pics when I make it. It is all aluminium or possibly even aluminum 😁. Here's a schematic of the general idea...

    Dust extraction

The slow boat from China must've had a tail wind. Got my tiny dust cyclone today, a good week earlier than Amazon was telling me to expect it. I'm away in Newcastle for the weekend to watch my daughter doing the Great North Run, so building my quiet dust extraction system will have to wait till...

    Cutting circles

@Rene Mopper But, am I not correct in thinking that to improve the cleanness of the cut, just use a finer spiral blade and expect to go a bit slower.

    Cutting circles

I'm enjoying using the spiral blade. With the normal blade, I feel like I'm constantly fighting against where it actually wants to go, and it often catches me off guard. With the spiral blade, it actually goes exactly where I tell it to. Just need a bit more practice. That leaf above was my...

    Cutting circles

I had a go at the devil's work and love it 🙂👍. Using the spiral blade I feel I have even more control than with a standard blade. I might not even bother swapping back to a normal blade.

    Cutting circles

The spiral blade with the circle jig cuts a perfect circle and was very easy to do 🙂. I'm really pleased with that result.

    Cutting circles

I will hopefully settle this circle jig argument by tomorrow night, so it should be well worth all the expense🤞. Never flown Air Canada, my local is East Midlands Airport, UK about 20 miles away.

    Cutting circles

@AES Cheers, when I found a dozen for just £6 with free next day delivery, I couldn't resist pushing the button, especially to experiment further with the circle jig.

    Cutting circles

You're all doing a great job selling these spiral blades to me now. I should have some tomorrow via Amazon Prime so I can have a go at the devil's work - just for the hell of it 😆👍. (Pun intended) It won't put me off as I have lots of ordinary blades to go back to. I will report back on the...

    Dust extraction

Thanks @Jaco I will do a mock up and give that method a go. It looks nice and simple and might even work better that my ideas 👍.

    Dust extraction

Thank you @Inspector and @SaintD56. It hadn't occurred to me to wear my Bluetooth headphones, but that will at least let me have music despite the noise of my shop vac. The photos show what I have scraped together so far to try to build my scrollsaw quiet dust extraction system. The small...

    Dust extraction

Looks like I'm going to be spending some time at my scroll saw from now on, so I'm concerned about the dangers of breathing in fine dust. Through my big illuminated magnifier I can plainly watch the dust coming off the wood and floating around, and I just came out of my small garage/workshop...
