    I looked it up. It's a Japanese woodworking technique called kigoroshi. They rely on air moisture rather than glue to do the swelling.

    Yes, I'd keep the wardrobes you have. Maybe put some storage baskets atop of them and build a nice wooden bench or blanket chest under the window. There's no fun in making ply/ mdf built ins. :)

    The noisiest thing in my workshop turned out to be the dust collector that is vented outside. I made one of those baffles that American website suggested and reduced the noise level by about 5dB. Much better now.

    Yeah, perhaps odd rather than humorous. A testament to their love of froccs, as they call it. I've seen charts with even more names for the various ratios. I think I'll print it out and make a poster for the kitchen. :)
