If you are going to include cost you are getting in the excel formula area to hide the true cost from the wife 😀 If(cost > £200 then newcost = cost-£97, if(cost > £100 and < £200 then newcost = cost -£36 else cost-£6)) Something along those lines should keep you safe.

Wish I knew this last month, looks like the previous owner was using the middle of my cap iron as a cold chisel, not straight one bit in the middle.

I can’t be the only one to do this

Just spent a few hours with hand plane fettling my latest project. Amazed on the amount of shavings you can produce. Well, I was about to call it a night so got my Lidl shop vac out, set it up and switched it on then watched in horror as I blew all the shavings towards the other side of the...

    Free vitamin D

I was told to start taking them last week as my blood tests said my vitamin D level was really bad. Told to buy them over the counter, think a months supply was less than £2 and that’s for the max strength ones.

I don't think they would believe it nowadays?

Back in Coatbridge, Scotland, remember going to the doctors, you walked in the door, spoke to the receptionist who handed you your medical notes and then you went and sat on plastic row of (bright orange) seats. As the next patient when in to see the doctor, you all stood up and shuffled down...

Note to self; stop buying big things!

Yeah, space is always the issue. I picked up a old Record Power BK3 MKII bandsaw and I’m struggling to find a place for it in my little corner of the garage. It’s currently sat on my make shift work table which one day will be replaced with a proper bench. Once I have space to store the wood and...

I don't think they would believe it nowadays?

What about buying a 1/4 bottle of whisky? Haven’t see one of them in a while. And when everyone had zippo lighters, we sold small gel capsules that had lighter fluid in it. One more, who remembers Woodbine?

Shops closing early on a Wednesday. Chap selling matches and laces down the high street. 50p in the electric meter. Butchers having saw dust on the floor. Black and white tv with a dial that you turned to tune a channel. Having a physical lock on the telephone dial. Bin men coming round...

    Cheapest plane on the bay......

What ever you do, when you buy it from eBay, DON’T tell the wife. I bought a second hand Jack plane and she kicks off as she bought me a no3 Stanley as a valentines present. Tried to explain that they are for different jobs so I will use both. I even used the “you have a size 4 knitting needle...

    Blocking mice?

I constantly have four mice traps down in the garage as we get them coming from the surrounding fields. We occasionally get rats cutting across our back garden, they seem to go between houses either side of us. Our neighbour had an air rifle set up next to the backdoor to take shots at them as...
