    Winter fuel Payments.

Not scrapped, but means tested. Seems eminently sensible not to give winter fuel payments to millionaires, especially if it means that money goes to public service workers that haven't had a decent pay rise for years. Maybe get angry about the tories that stole all our money through corruption...

Who's got it better US or UK Woodworkers?

People accept YT video's poor standards and quality, but wouldn't find the same acceptable on broadcast channels. Making proper broadcast TV is an expensive business, so it has to have wide appeal to get a slot. So "Woodworker of the year" C4 is as good as you're going to get here.

    US Election November 5th

No debate, countries can't just "demilitarise" their neighbours because they want to when they're not in actual conflict.

    US Election November 5th

I didn't suggest it was. Just pointing out that suggesting the Ukraine war and Gaza have similar causes is fundamentally wrong.

    US Election November 5th

There's a massive difference between "perceived threats" and actual attacks. Hamas have been rocketing and bombing Israel for years.

    Thought on AI

And it's still unreliable and useless. I've had to sit through a lot of AI presentations, but there's still a lot of appalling errors it makes. Spend some time with Adobe's AI image replacement offering...woefully bad. Even some of the basic technical text queries on chatGPT are wrong. Quite...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

It's not worked, it was never going to work, it costs absurd amounts of money. Scrapping it on day one was a smart decision.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Similarly some one that wants to do good things gets labelled as a 'do gooder' as some sort of reverse insult.

You're blaming Starmer for the failed Rwanda scheme ? Give your head a wobble.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

I'd agree about supermarkets generally not paying enough. However it's difficult to see how we could ever pay people in the UK enough to persuade them to take up the lifestyle that seasonable pickers endure.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

The RW press will always jump on any bad story about immigrants. What you need to find out is if immigrants/asylum seekers have a higher rate of offending than the rest the population.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

I think that the junior doctors situation is unique, well understood and there's a huge amount of public sympathy and support for them. A decent pay deal is long overdue. It I can't see that alone leading to 'copy cat' strikes anywhere.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

You think an ex-director of public prosecutions would undermine the judiciary ? that's just silly. Prisoners have always been able to be released before the end of term on parole or licence. Changing when that becomes possible is just a sensible way of trying to deal with the crisis of over...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Despite what some brexiters have been told to believe there's always been a lot of goodwill to the UK from the EU. They didn't want all this trouble and improving trading relations will help both parties. With a new government that are prepared to make an effort to repair the obvious damages...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

So how long do you think it will take to "fix the police" enough to make a difference ? If you listened to the press conference, the question was about releasing people that shouldn't be in jail to ease the chronic overcrowding which eventually creates space to lock up the real dangers to...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

The point was he was effectively unelectable. A well meaning man in the wrong position. The tragedy was that Labour had loads of more electable people, but the membership failed to promote them.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

I doubt it. Whilst there were some good policies he tried to promote, he completely failed to look sufficiently statesman like that's needed for the task. His performances at PMQs were pretty dismal and he failed to be engaging on TV. Whilst that might seem unimportant, IT IS IMPORTANT, and he...

C4 with Dorries saying it's all down to Johnson that they'll get 131 not 50 was hilarious.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

I don't think it was any serious attempt at making fun. All of the Davey's 'stunts' were there to gain coverage and highlight issues like water quality (as above). Compared to standing in the rain without an umbrella, campaigning in the Titanic quarter or under an exit sign, it was genius...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Easy target for you ? Convenient to ignore what I wrote. I'll emphasis it for you; "the LibDems have generally acted in a more mature style and have closer aims in parliament"
