    Tenon theory

Thirds is the usual “rule” and it’s not a bad one. I can’t think of why your configuration would drive anything different, there will be some torsion on the joint, mostly compression drawing the shoulders together (presuming you’re doing it that way as the alternative will be to shear off the...

    Tear out when drilling holes

You’re probably... -Using the wrong drill bit -Using a blunt drill bit -Pushing too hard -Spinning too slow One or more of them Aidan

    Clear Finish for exterior use

I think you’re chasing your tail here. Unfinished oak will look like unfinished oak, go grey and probably last a long time. Finished oak will look like finished oak, eventually go grey and probably last a long time. What look are you actually after? Aidan

    Trend T5 repair

The power switches in the T5 are notorious for being filled with dust and become temperamental, but doesn’t sound like the case this time. Spare parts can be bought from miles tool and machinery at a decent price. how do you know it’s getting volts ok if you’ve not taken it apart yet? Aidan

    Your opinion about logos.

You can file a patent for a couple hundred, if you can do all the paperwork yourself, though as Phil says it’s not hugely innovative, so may not pass the test of being non-obvious. You can register a design for less (£50 last time I looked), as in the physical appearance and configuration, it’s...

    Your opinion about logos.

Very true. Unregistered design right is the Babycham of IP protection, I think even if I had copied someone’s design I’d not be scared of an enforcement action using it. Aidan

    Which top coat?

Are you going to notice a slight yellow tinge on top of purple? Wow, what a range of tastes we have here, I was painting kids furniture F&B grey today... Aidan

    Your opinion about logos.

Based on, is the essential part there. By publishing it you are also putting it in the public domain so unless you have protected it before doing so and are willing to enforce, you automatically relinquish your right to protect it.

    Your opinion about logos.

We had a working name for a product once, then the company brought in a marketing agency to give the product its “proper” name, which happened to be the same as the working name and also that used by a large information website, so it would only ever be the second hit or worse on a search...

    Laser cutter filtration?

Depends what you’re trying to catch! Many things are carcinogenic, yet pubs still serve beer, vans sell ice cream and aeroplanes fly high up in the air, it’s a question of degrees. Ozi is pretty well dead on with the car analogue Aidan

    Laser cutter filtration?

I see your point there and I’m halfway to agreeing with you, but then they do (and probably can’t) nothing about people burning treated timber, old ply, plastic packaging on bonfires so compared to that it’s nothing. That said, just because you can get away with something doesn’t mean it’s...

It’s nice if they are, you can use them without that though, most old models are and we are still using them Aidan

    Laser cutter filtration?

The laser guy is right and slightly wrong, if you a laser some material they eject as a plasma etc... wood mostly doesn’t unless you pump an awful lot of shielding in, which most don’t, it’s just a fine powder of burned cellulose, might as well call that smoke. Have a care what you cut and...
