    V-groove routing

I suppose technically you ought to have that small flat if it’s representing actual T&G as you’d normally not have the pieces butted up together unless the entire panel floats.

Bought a pallet of off cuts.

That looks pricey to me, but if you’re happy that’s fine.

    UJK Universal Dovetail Jig

It looks like a fine piece of kit to do what it does. I had a perform one 20 years ago that was a forerunnner of that, then a woodrat, now I have neither and use paring blocks as there is no machine (currently) that can give the handmade look I want. Depends on what you want, the jig when set up...

    Stable Door...

As said, don’t inhibit the t&g from moving or it’ll split. Are you sure you want to copy a failed design? Aidan

Newbie - Display cabinet plywood advice

Ply will be heavier than MDF. If you really want it light then poplar ply is the way to go

Pre painting prep for Birch Ply

A light sand with 120 then ordinary acrylic primer will give you a good finish from there on. Both of those materials paint beautifully. Avoid sharp edges as they don’t like paint

    Garden storage bench

I’d not do that as there will be condensation inside them, but a few vents in the box will help that

    Is it me or

I know, it’s almost as if it’s a finite resource and the global population of the planet is increasing demand for it or something mad, whatever next, someone will invent inflation?! In other news... ice is cold, the sun is hot and water is wet.

    B&Q pine stripwood

I buy bundle packs from Wickes, no problem with it for boxing in, wall battens etc... I don’t buy my wood for veneers and inlays from them, set your expectations to reality and buy accordingly.

    Veneered MDF from Selco.

Ask them who the manufacturer is, that’ll make your investigations easier.

Do fancy spiral thicknessers just work without tearout?

I have the same machine and I get the same problem, then I have the blades sharpened and the problem goes away. Then I forget to have them sharpened again till I get fed up with the finish again and the cycle repeats. I’d not expect to plane any highly figured timber and not get some kind of...

    B&Q pine stripwood

It’s normally pretty dry, but bundled up so it stays straight in the pack but when released off it goes. It’s not all bad though, depends just how straight you need it Aidan

    Pink anti-theft tools

That prison governor was convicted for contempt of court and oversaw what the US justice department regarded as the worst pattern of racial profiling in US history, and what a history of that they have... so maybe not the guy to take a lead from. Some people who really can’t afford to leave...

Marples Blue Chip chisel handle removal and replacement

I did that, smashed the old ones off, then months later replaced them with hornbeam, with hindsight, I should have left the old ones on.

    Quiet compressors and pin nailer

Whichever you fancy, just ask to switch it on in the shop as pointed out, the sound level numbers are all rubbish. For it to be meaningful it needs to be in the form 60dB(A) @ 1.0m and 0.75m3/minute, without all that info, it’s basically like saying your car is 19 fast Aidan

    Vac advice

Festool vacuums are great. If you notice whatever power tool people are reviewing online, it’s almost always a green hose going to it. You can re-use a standard bag by cutting open the end and closing it off with two strips of wood and some bulldog clips. I’m on the same bag for the last 5...

    Good timber for bench slats?

Those bench ends often come up for sale, £200 bench goes for £10 because £30 of wood needs replacing, I’m not complaining. However most of the “cast iron” benches are aluminium and the “wrought iron” is mild steel, but occasionally they are what they say they are. I brought a Broxap “century”...

    Good timber for bench slats?

Oak is the easiest available and cheap option. Cedar is less strong but smells nicer. Chestnut lasts well outside but is harder to get ahold of

How to finish this Teak (?) table

Rustins satin varnish is an easy to apply and very tough finish for beech.

Questions on how to build a shed mikes way?

You can buy pre-cut strips or use “builder’s band” of the correct size
