I suppose technically you ought to have that small flat if it’s representing actual T&G as you’d normally not have the pieces butted up together unless the entire panel floats.
It looks like a fine piece of kit to do what it does. I had a perform one 20 years ago that was a forerunnner of that, then a woodrat, now I have neither and use paring blocks as there is no machine (currently) that can give the handmade look I want. Depends on what you want, the jig when set up...
A light sand with 120 then ordinary acrylic primer will give you a good finish from there on. Both of those materials paint beautifully. Avoid sharp edges as they don’t like paint

I buy bundle packs from Wickes, no problem with it for boxing in, wall battens etc... I don’t buy my wood for veneers and inlays from them, set your expectations to reality and buy accordingly.
I have the same machine and I get the same problem, then I have the blades sharpened and the problem goes away. Then I forget to have them sharpened again till I get fed up with the finish again and the cycle repeats.

It’s normally pretty dry, but bundled up so it stays straight in the pack but when released off it goes. It’s not all bad though, depends just how straight you need it
