Have I picked the wrong hobby?

Once everything is back to normal we can set something up. Mrs G goes to Glossop on a Sunday so that would be ideal if that is a bad day for you I can drop her off on any week day, I still have around 10 weeks shutdown to go as I am in the vulnerable group but will remind you nearer the time :D

Have I picked the wrong hobby?

@ AES Thank you for the encouragement and you hit it on the head saying it can be frustrating (hammer) (hammer) (hammer) @ Trevanion I cant believe that someone using a chainsaw makes better dovetail than I do

Have I picked the wrong hobby?

I would like to say thank you for all of the great replies I have had and it is reassuring to know others also make mistakes. A special thanks to Trevanion for taking the time to put together that great post, as well as the poster who has bookmarked it I will be doing the same. Today I will...

MBartlet99 I feel a little better after your post thank you :D :D Trevanion I actually have zero experience of any other joints, I always thought that dovetails was the beginners choice, saying that I really need to start looking up different types

Have I picked the wrong hobby?

MikeG I think you have offered some wonderful advice and after everything settles down in the world I will look around for someone willing to show me how to do it and give that nudge when needed. D_W That is an amazing example of sawing a straight line, One day I hope to emulate that :shock...

Have I picked the wrong hobby?

Spent a lot of today in my shed practising. The two things I have been practising are 1) Cutting a piece of wood straight 2) Doing some Dovetail joints by hand All sounds simple and no doubt to 99.9% of you it is, but for me it seems to be a totally unreachable task. My dovetails end up like...

    Oh dear or oops

Well, Just before christmas I purchased a lovely computer for myself and Mrs G, (OK mainly for me) it cost a lot of money as most of the stuff on it was hi-ish spec. Seeing we will be spending a lot of time in the house for the forseeable I decided to get us a game to play on it, It's an old...

    Got My Letter

The letter states a minimum of 12 weeks and as for a vaccine from what I can gather they already have one being tested on anaimals. This thread was really to let people know how much of a shock it becomes when something as serious as this lands on your doorstep. It is easy to dismiss something...

    Got My Letter

I am merely repeating the advise on the letter, She may afterall be a carrier or have it and the symptons have not yet come out. She may get it when out collecting my medication. If you had it the chances of you being admitted to hospital are infinetly smaller than my chances would be if I got...

    Got My Letter

Anyone else had their letter informing them they are in the high risk catagory for the Coronavirus? I recieved mine today and if nothing else it really brings home just how severe this virus can be. Knowing you are amongst the high risk is just a little bit different than having it confirmed...

    Vacuum hose reducer

I wonder if I could make something out of a marigold glove and some tape? More to the point would it work or get sucked in towards the vacuum and rip?

    Vacuum hose reducer

I think the Ply option is a good one until I get one made on a 3D printer. Fully agree with your P.S and it is the most annoying thing with power tools.

    Vacuum hose reducer

That would be the ideal solution but I am not sure I know anyone with a 3D printer, I will start looking around my local area or see if I can get a college or school to make me 1 :D

    Vacuum hose reducer

Thank you for your reply I have that same "kit" and the measurements are exactly the same as those on my machines

    Vacuum hose reducer

Can anyone tell me where I can get a hose reducer from. The problem I have with my table saw and my planer thicknesser is that a reducer kit I have does not fit. My kit supposedly reduces from 100mm - 30mm except it does not, it can sit on a 100mm extractor hole but does not fit in or slot over...
