What are the definitive smells of the 70s?

Wrekin Ales IIRC..I remember there being a good market at Bilston :-) Depending on exactly where you were your nearest station might have been something called Birches and Bilbrook ? There used to be a "head shop" ( near the entrance in Wolvo' called ) "My people were fair and had sky in their...

    Eh?!

In France I know a few delivery drivers who were very disappointed when their companies were taken over by DPD, so much so that they were ( and still are ) very reluctant to say who they work for when asked, and to drive in their newly liveried vehicles, especially in pairs . If you speak french...

    Festool Exoskeleton

I suspect if Festool would n't lend you the time of day, they would quite probably sell you it, for a substantial amount of money, with functionally indicative green bits. An exoskeleton might be useful for to adjust your cameras.

Dealing with rats in subfloor void

"Rats darn things!!" Amazing how they can thread needles with their little paws. Can they do socks one wonders. Spiders spin, some birds weave, nits nit, nit nurses groom? What is the name for what a nit nurse does / did? Do they still exist? french TV runs a lot of advertising every year at "...

"Ooooh, lovely! Another sharpening thread" I thought that too, I read a lot here for a couple of weeks before signing up, sharpening threads do kind of "car crash meets the 100 years war" don't they, and then everybody seems to slow down to have a look. Is there a pop-corn icon in the smiley...

    Festool Exoskeleton

I'd sign up, but it appears that one has to already have an account, meaning be a Festool customer.I don't have any Festool gear because as I mentioned in another thread , the nearest retailer where I could touch a Festool track saw etc before buying is 200kms from me. That one shop is in a...

Dealing with rats in subfloor void

BTW..if, due to all this publicity, you get a guy with a pointy hat and a flute show up offering to deal with your rat problem, please pay him when he is done, and lock up your kids until he is absolutely gone away for good.

What are the definitive smells of the 70s?

Oakengates ,which I think has been absorbed into Telford by now, I knew it in the mid 1960's, it had been going since at least WW2.Oakengates station had a long tunnel immediately before you arrived at the platform if you were arriving from the Shifnal side. The maggot farm was on the land above...

    Festool Exoskeleton

They have auxiliaries / assistants who visit for an hour or more every day to help with things like that, ( putting it on, taking it off etc ), almost all of them ( I've met many, I fix things for them for free , run errands etc for free ) would love even the 10 or 20 minutes of autonomy and...

    Festool Exoskeleton

At 2.5K (I showed the Festool site to SWMBO, she works with old folks, stroke victims, handicapped people , Alzheimer patients, cancer patients etc, a lot with weakness or mobility issues, mostly in their own homes ) I thought it would be around 10 or 15K .She's asleep now ( 02.00am here ) up...

    Avro Vulcan

They leaked enough when not flying to be dangerous ( pollution ) to their own side on the ground. Lovely aircraft though.

70's patchouli..and various "leb" ,-) 60's there was a maggot farm ( dead animals laid out in a field ( above a railway tunnel ) with plastic bags and tarps on them. The rain which fell on them and the field used to leach down into the tunnel roof, which the train we used to get to school used...

Dealing with rats in subfloor void

+1 for the ferret.A schoolmate kept ferrets , back when I was a kid in the UK, many decades ago ( his dad was the local rat catcher ) as did almost every farmer ( us included , back home in Ireland ) .does anyone still catch rats with them in the UK ? AFAIK you can't keep weasels, ( protected )...

Dealing with rats in subfloor void

Yes!! Used a crossbow for them when we had our huge workshop near St Tropez. Crossbow and a glass or two of rosé from my mates domaine, and a.22 garden gun.The other banging machines would be a bit over kill for rodents. The rats were bigger there too. There and here we also have ragondin, I...
