    Newbie to woodworking and scrolling

My advice is don't buy Silverline! Every Silverline item I have bought has turned out to be useless rubbish! For donkeys years I have used blades from Hobbies, I would recommend reverse tooth blades. http://www.alwayshobbies.com/tools/hand ... s-for-wood

    the lords prayer

In this page taken from a 1931 Handicrafts magazine this lady says she has made 5 Lords prayer plaques and is now making her 6th and 7th! People had a lot more time on their hands then also it's nice to see a lady fretworker!

    the lords prayer

This pattern was created not by Hobbies but by a company founded by two ex employees of Hobbies called Handicrafts, the design first appeared in Handicrafts fretwork magazine in August 1919, ( Vol 15 No 269) there were two versions and this one was the biggest and finest, it measured 32" x 23"...

    record (RBI) Hawk Ultra 226

This saw was sold by Record when they would only put their name to a machine if it was superb quality, sadly since their takeover the Record name is attached to lot's of cheaply made far eastern products! I always thought these looked like a top quality machine, Scroll saw magazine (the UK one...

Who's a happy bunney now then!

I only wondered if I was on some ignore lists since a comment I made a couple of weeks ago, I often make posts offering advice (probably not quality advice I admit) but no one comments and I thought I had caused some upset and been banished.

    I think I must be invisible! :(

Who's a happy bunney now then!

The Hegner quick clamp is way over priced IMHO but it is also essential, once you have used one you will find it indispensable. I use my quick clamp all the time with my Hegner, I never use a normal top clamp. If you only buy one Hegner accessory make certain it is the Quick clamp!

    Not a happy bunny

It's sad to say it but any second hand Hegner even one made in 1985 at £200 will be far more enjoyable to use and be of far better build quality than any new Scroll-saw that you can buy today for that sort of cash. It's also fair to say that quality machines are probably used more carefully and...

    Protecting my saw

Can you not put a plastic cover over it, like the ones one used to place over old style CRT monitors?

    Agreed, would be very interesting.

    Titan TTB54SSW 457mm Scroll Saw

I think Martin is right, you would not want to be the first one to spend £150 to try out this saw, often these machines are fine for someone who just wants to play around a little then shove it in the cupboard and forget it, if you are into regular fretwork and especially if you want to do...

    Newbie questions thread.

Oh don't so touchy, you are throwing your toys out of the pram just because I suggested you were a little anti Hegner and you are also suggesting that other non Hegner users leave too? Was what I said so upsetting that you think everyone else without a Hegner will leave! If what I said was so...

    Newbie questions thread.

I can tell you that every time I let a friend try any one of my saws what you describe is exactly what happens until I tell them to keep the wood pressed down!
