TBH I think you will find it almost impossible to find a genuine A1 table being sold on it's own, your best bet would be to look out for a cheap A1 machine (complete with table) on ebay, they often appear for little money. :)

No 1 is big! wait till you try some 00 blades sometimes called 2.0 or double O. I have some piercing saw blades that are even finer than 00. :)

You may be right but Dave (the original poster in this thread) did mention that he got it VAT free! Which is why I quoted the VAT free price of £79.98 in my post. :)

No At the Moment Machine mart are offering all Clarke stuff VAT free i.e 20% discount!

Bit confused TBH, You ordered a css16v from Machine mart but are returning it and are getting instead a Jet JSS-16 from Axminster? The 2 saws look like they come from the same maker to me apart from the fact that the Jet costs £112.94 whilst the one from Machinemart cost £79.98. Or am I missing...

The quick change clamp (piercing clamp) is supplied with the more expensive models such as the 2s and above but not with the cheaper models Multicut 1 and 1s. Although they charge £20 for the clamp it probably costs next to nowt to produce so could easily be supplied with the cheaper models...

If you find blade fitting horrible on the Hegner you must be doing something wrong! I have 3 saws inc a British made Diamond and a Hegner and the blade change on the Hegner is so easy you could do it blindfolded! I honestly don't see how they could make it much easier. I presume you do realise...

A very interesting report. I tried some Olson blades 15 years ago and did not find them any better than the Niqua one I normally use but after reading this may give them another try. :)

The suggestion was that the top knurled knob was tightened down on the quick clamp keeping it tight in the holder and thus spoiling the true parallel action, however I never do the knob down tightly I leave it loose enough to allow the clamp to move with the action yet tight enough to stay in...

Any links to it, I could only find the sandflee one and not much about that either?

I always use the Quick clamp, I don't see any disadvantage of doing so? :)

That looks good but where have you ordered it from? I can't find it on the Hegner site? Do let us have a report on it with some pictures when you get it. :)

Once you have used the quick clamp you will never bother with the other type again! It is indispensable IMHO.
