    .......

Those brass rollers look really good, It's a pity Hegner don't fit the same to their saws, they look so much better than the plastic ones supplied and I bet they will last longer. (having said that my Hegner still has it's original plastic rollers after 18 years use but the metal has got to be...

    Making a simple website

Thanks for all the advice. I have watched a few youtube videos on creating a simple wordpress site but they all stress that you need to get your own domain name and pay for web hosting to start. To be honest at this stage I don't want to spend money setting something up and find for one reason...

    One for Brian (Claymore)

That fish looks really good on the wall. If I tried to make one; even if I could cut it out I would mess it up with the finishing.

My first scroll-saw. Now, what to do with it?

When you say Glue sticks do you actually mean the roll on type because they are hopeless, what I use also from pound shops and the Range are little tubes of old fashioned water based gum they are about 6" tall with a screw on cap and contain very sticky gum, it sticks the patterns on very firmly...

    Making a simple website

Since I first went on line in 1997 (can't believe it's 20yrs ago) I have always wanted to make a website covering Fretworking, scrollsaws and the history of the Hobbies company, also giving advice on machines and saw blades etc, I also want to put some free simple patterns for people to try out...

Sorry; I didn't want to offend or 'lynch' anyone, I just thought I would be even handed and I really did like the first one. (I will happily remove the comment if I have offended) :)

    One for Brian (Claymore)

I have never tried doing Intarsia, don't think I am skilled enough to be honest but the stuff you people do is frankly amazing, The Norton is stunning.

Sorry to be a killjoy again but personally I like the first one it looked just right to me. :) Not saying I don't like the coloured version, had you put that one here first I would still think it was great but I like the first one best! :)

I don't wish to offend but I disagree! :) (sorry) I think it looks fine as all the woods are finished naturally and it really does look like a Robin and not a sparrow!

    Scheppach DS405 406mm Vario-Speed Scroll Saw 230V

I have to agree with AES on this the Scheppach DS405 looks to me to be massively overpriced and as AES says it looks like a clone or re-badge of the plethora of cheap saws with a few refinements to make it look worth the extra charged (it isn't IMHO) sorry to be a killjoy but personally I would...

    Hegner Multicut 1

A very informative, balanced, helpful and interesting post if I may say so. :) FWIW I can't take the credit for the comment comparing the Hegner and Excal being the R-R and Cadillac of scroll saws although I did agree with it.

    Scroll Saw Table

A light over the saw is essential (IMHO) I do have one like your picture with the magnifier but I do find it quite hard cutting when using the magnifier, I only use it for really delicate work.

    Scroll Saw Table

Depends what I am doing, if it's intricate fretwork I use a high office type chair if its something quick and simple I stand, the saws are a comfortable height either way.

This is a comment I made re blades a short while ago it may be of use to you. As far as types of blade go generally there are four types of blade worth considering as follows 1] Spiral blades. These cut in any direction, they are basically a normal blade that has been twisted so that teeth...

    Scroll Saw Table

I built my tables in the form of cabinets with casters so they can be moved around easily plus give useful storage space, although they look lightly built they are in fact heavy the frames being made of recycled 3"x2" timber, they also feature useful drawers to store those valuable Hegner...
