What is this tool used for?

It is 5 3/4" (145mm) from end of tip to top of handle, the blade width at the tip is 5/16" and the cut out bit is about 5/32".

What is this tool used for?

I wondered about that and it could be right but it is rather small and why does it have those indents and markings on the side? It seems quite elaborate for just tightening saw nuts? :)

    Old Jointer plane

I was given some old planes mostly not of much use however I decided to clean this one up as it looks quite a decent one, I cleaned off years of black oily grime with vinegar and gave it a good polish, I soaked the rusty blade in vinegar too, amazingly after many years in a damp garage the blade...

What is this tool used for?

I know it's a screwdriver of sorts but when I first received it I assumed it was a normal drive that someone had made into a slotted driver however looking at it more closely I think it was made like this. Is it used in Clock repair or perhaps something to do with guns like a turnscrew? Anyone...

    Scroll saw stand or table?

I do both, if it's just a quick job I stand as the saws are at the ideal height for me but for longer sessions I use one of those adjustable office type chairs (not a new one, one that someone chucked out!) Here is a picture of my home-made stand.

    Hegner Niqua blades.

Generally I buy my blades from Hobbies (for the reason you suggested) the only reason I have bought from Hegner is that they do a wider range of blade grades, whilst Hobbies only list grades 5, 7 and 9 in reverse tooth blades Hegner offer 00, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 12. In fairness the Hobbies range is...

Blade sale not allowed due to regs

The seller who advised me they were not allowed to sell blades that rebate does advertise blades that fit the Startrite PT260 (old UK made model) but they are plain ended and do not have a rebating facility. The original blades have one end that are not at right angles and hence protrude a...

Blade sale not allowed due to regs

I have one of the original British made Startrite planers thicknessers it takes 2 x 10" blades one end of which is at a different angle to allow rebating. I have two sets and normally have them sharpened at a local saw service shop however I noticed that replacement blades are available on ebay...

    Excalibur has a fever

Take the carbon brushes out and examine them, they should exhibit a shiny finish at the end, examine both brushes not just the one, if they look dull and the ends rounded off that indicates that the armature has shorted turns and is causing the brushes to 'burn out', if one brush is shiny and...

    Fretworker website

Ok you asked so here is a picture of the creature! The damn thing won't stay still long enough to get a decent snap! I didn't have any say in the matter, The rescue centre phoned up to say they had a 1 yr old Black GSD, the wife asked for a photo and the next day she announced that they could...

    Fretworker website

Lol I reckon you folk are expecting a super duper web site with the quality to match Amazon! My modest effort will be a bit of a let down for you all so much so that with your big build up I will be afraid to press the publish button! (hammer) I am a bit behind with it at the moment as we...

    Fretworker website

Yes thanks. This morning I did just that. I copied all the writing into word docs and took screen shots of the pages to show where the pictures and stuff go. :)

    Fretworker website

Thanks for the above, unfortunately I typed most straight into Google rather than using word etc. Thankfully I have got it back and I am going to save all my text later today just in case. I would prefer using a web editor on my PC to create it first; it does have advantages but I thought I...

    Fretworker website

Many thanks to everyone for their comments, I tried again and it is back so it must have been an issue with Google! I must copy my text out and save it, the thing is that with Google sites you just type straight into the page and you don't need any text editor, the advantage is that it's...

    Fretworker website

What a monumental waste of time, all the time and effort put in trying to create my Fretworking site using Google sites and when I try and access it tonight to continue it's all gone, just shows a 404 error not found! I have copies of all the images but never got around to backing up all my...

You are too kind. Many thanks indeed for your pm very helpful and I am very grateful for your comments. TBH I write a bit then get despondent thinking that it's going to turn out boring and people won't want to view it, and pack it in for a few days. Lol if you watch any of my videos you...
