    US Election November 5th

David Starkey made the point - people think the Russians and Chinese think like we do - they don't.

100%, except the Balfour Declaration was 1917.

    Political compass

They've got Kamala Harris half way across the blue, so Ghengis Khan would have gone all the way round the back and across the front again. :-)

    Predicting the Future

We get neither extremes of heat or cold and speaking to people I suspect by far the biggest problem is disease. Incidentally, the way more aerodynamic design of modern cars usually takes the credit for fewer insects on screens. We have apparently 270 species of bee in the UK, so there are...

    US Election November 5th

Jacob, if it were genocide it would have been over and done with in the first week.

Get used to it, others have had fourteen years of it.

    Vehicle oil change

I was about to say cut a copper one. Anneal it before use ideally.

    Lichtenberg wood burning

Mission aborted. I was looking at commercial set ups - the cheap ones get poor reviews, but the American made ones are expensive. Has anyone tried either?

Work so hard you cripple yourself

Maybe some people vote for what they think best for the Country and not for who'll give them most.

Work so hard you cripple yourself

No, Johnson post 2019 destroyed the Tories. They didn't even attempt to do what they promised to do.

    Withdrawn Marking gauges

Due to a very fair offer, now spoken for. (I don't know why the name of the maker wasn't published - odd.)

Popular support is strongly behind the Palestinians? Only in your mind.

    I don't think there was a perhaps.

    Political compass

Over the 12 or 13 years that I've done it I moved one block up and one block right, so not vastly different.

Up to you. Ideally a small one, I don't like paying the CEO's wages.

    Political compass

https://www.politicalcompass.org/ It's interesting, people commenting on political threads should try it. Oddly, (I've done it over 12 or 13 years) I don't come out as right wing.

    Withdrawn Marking gauges

Two rather beautiful marking gauges, made by Pete Maddex ex of this parish. Nothing wrong with them, I just don't get on with them and I have another half a dozen besides. One has the pin sharpened inside, one outside. I'll stand the P&P but I would like to see a decent donation to a charity...

My most horrible food mistake so far...

... I suppose it’s a case of flooding the shops with everything that vegans can now eat because it’s meat free. No, it's because it sells.

    The colour of plywood.

Ply is made here, there and everywhere - what it's made of often depends on what is available in large amounts cheapest at the time. If you ever cut the stuff, get used to getting a bit of abrasive and taking the arrises off quickly - sometimes the small splinters are horrible if you get them...
