Narnia? My wife's nickname. She has the hair of a lion, the face of a witch and the body of a wardrobe.

    Sharpening

My mother always sharpened kitchen knives on the doorstep.

    Bobbin sanders

That's what I would have thought, but the rubber cylinders on mine are so hard I wouldn't have thought they'd deform - at least, they don't appear to.

    David Charlesworth's Chisel Hammers

Of coures if you choose to use a carver's mallet very rounded surfaces will strike the chisel.

    Labour's Employment Rights Bill

Jacob, you think everyone should pay more tax. I look forward to seeing a tax return from you showing you've paid much more that they've demanded.

    Bobbin sanders

Has anyone bought branded/unbranded sleeves that do or don't fit their particular sander? I have a Draper that I've just started using and I bought Triton sleeves that are slightly too loose. A couple of smears of adhesive of some kind left to dry will probably be enough to make the usable...

    Speed Limit

Speed limits should be variable, variable limits work OK in other Countries. There's nothing wrong with a 20mph limit outside a school or playground, but little reason for it at 3am. We've a road near us with limits that go from 20mph to 30mph to 40mph back to 20mph and back to 30mph - the road...

There was agreat cartoon in Private Eye years ago of two fat women sitting in a cafe, both covered in large blue smudges. One said to the other well, the tattooist said it would be fine, they'll still look good when I'm fat and fifty.

    Labour's Employment Rights Bill

A young pâtissière I knew went for a job at a top London hotel. I asked how the interview went, and she said OK, it was quite short. She said is that it? and the chap pulled two bags of groceries out from under the table. The kitchen's over there, the first oven's set at 160c, the second at...

    Nu-tool wood lathe

I was thinking of the round bar one mentioned above, they're common. That one's marketed under several names, it shouldn't be bad. If the chuck's with it I'd say go for it.

    Nu-tool wood lathe

No, it is not. Whatever it cost it was more than it was worth.

Unfortunately they're your government whether you voted for them or not. And there's four to one chance you didn't.
