Wood burning stoves tested to destruction

Eight years old Little Devil. The only mod. is the rope around the handle.

Shed repairs - is this creosote?

2007 iirc it was banned. The proper stuff is still available but has to be bought through a trade account. I have 25lts of it. :) We used to treat all the packing crates for camping gear, tent pegs, ropes, everything with it decades ago.

    Recommend lathe light

I have three of them, one on the bandsaw, one on the grinder and one over the computer. You need adaptors, though, or else to replace the plugs which isn't easy as the wiring is microscopic. Brilliant fo the money.

    Labour's Employment Rights Bill

Get it right - I think one person in every five will bitterly regret voting for them ...

don't ban the tool when its the tool driving it ... I wonder if this logic applies to knives? I've always carried a knife since I was eight years old. I shouldn't carry one now, apparently, because some people stab other people.

    House building

Try Cornwall - the population has nearly doubled since 1971. Anything seemingly much over an acre has a council estate built on it.

    Speed Limit

If 100 bikes were doing 70mph the woman would still be in the wrong. There used to be regular moans in the Telegraph motoring supplement (which used to be excellent) from people upset at being undertaken on motorways, the answer was always the same - if you were undertaken, you were in the...

for miles ... the stupidity of restricting their engines.

    Speed Limit

Brake distances for driving tests is a classic example - I think they were decided when a Moggie took half a mile to stop from 50mph.

    Speed Limit

Years ago when the roads were quieter I drove up to London. I got in a group of about 15 cars, all BMWs, Mercs, Jags, Porsches - decent cars. We were travelling up the M5 at about 115mph - 125mph, every few minutes the tail marker overtook the group and took the lead. Beautiful weather, an...

    Speed Limit

I think a problem with arbitrary limits like the minimum wage and speed limits is they become targets. People will drive at 39mph in a 40mph limit when they shouldn't really be doing more that 25mph because of the road/weather conditions at the time. Motorways possibly being the worst, how...

    House building

One and a half million houses over five years even if feasible doesn't even keep up with immigration, let alone solve a shortage.

    large plant tubs

Nothing to do with woodwork, but I know many people here are gardeners. I bought these before, they're excellent - inc. P&P the 130l one are £15.20 each if you buy five. https://elixirgardensupplies.co.uk/product/heavy-duty-plastic-container-pots-tubs-with-handles-30-130-litre/

    Speed Limit

Apparently it has been admitted secretly that the main reason isn't safety or pollution, it's to attempt to annoy people into giving up driving. It's 20mph in towns and villages here - it's a bloody nuisance, and achieves very little. People drive with their eyes glued to the speedo, and that...
