    castors

I need to make a small base to lower my bandsaw, I would like it on wheels. The locks of castors I've seen and used in the past are designed to be foot operated, which puts me at a disadvantage not having any. It obviously needs to be fixed, so any suggestions?

    No Fault Evictions

I read years ago that when the queen volunteered to pay some income tax Lord Vestey said there's only one of us left now. His firms paid something like £60 in tax on profits of hundreds of millions. The Inland Revenue at one time apparently had a team of something like forty accountants trying...

    US Election November 5th

Harris would be doing herself a huge favour if she managed to stop cackling like an imbecile. Trump is an obnoxious bonus hole but unfortunately he's still the better option.

Singapore GDP per capita 1960 - $428 Singapore GDP per capita 2022 - $88,414. It would appear they're doing something right.

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

OP - I didn't say you or your post was weird, just that it's just weird they class those times as peak. The spikes in usage are much earlier in both the morning and the evening. Yes, those reductions are useful but that's not what I'm querying. Octopus for some odd reason choose my night rate...

Hybrid Gas/Electric eggs, or Full Gas eggs?

I've not yet met a woman who understood TRVs - they're always on or off.

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

There must be loads of people getting home from work and cooking their evening meals and putting their heating on at 11pm, then. Weird.

So much for wealth taxes. The number of countries imposing a wealth tax has dwindled. Just over three decades ago in 1990, 12 countries had one. Today, only Norway, Spain, and Switzerland remain and the yields in these countries are low while the deterrents are high. Emmanuel Macron ditched...

    The new hammer

I was taught at 11 or 12 years old to always give the face of a hammer a wipe with a piece of used abrasive before use.

New road tax charging rules wont just affect EV OR just new vehicles, its retrospectively changes your tax band

For road wear surely the size of the tyres must have a bearing? What if one is 20% heavier but has 50% more tyre/ground contact?

    The new hammer

I found a blue handled Estwing in an expensive suburban hardware shop in Auckland in 1998 - it was a third of the price we were paying for them. I also found a Marples chisel for the equivalent of £12 that was £17.50p here (I knew this because someone got hauled acrosss the coals for booking...
