    My new small (11' x 7' ) workshop has a 6mm swa supply although the largest thing in it (for power demand) is a 230v welder that runs on 16a.     My friend, a buyer for a hospital pays £16 for a screwdriver bit that's 99p in town. The only difference is it would need to be sterilised (other items being sterilised at the same time), but it's a single use item. He buys dozens at a time and has to buy from an approved supplier. It stinks...

    Winter fuel allowance - Works out at a pound per day, which probably means one less bottle of vodka/month for your average pensioner. So the average pensioner is both wealthy and alcoholic. Right .....................

    My grandfather worked years ago for the M.O.D. - he said he was sure the main reason they were under the Official Secrets Act was to to prevent their broadcasting how much money was wasted.

    Yes. There's quite a large company locally just gone bust - the directors transfered assets to another company (with the same directors) in the months beforehand. They are also directors of several other interconnected companies.

    I still keep in touch with my consultant surgeon (head of department) from a few years ago (on a personal basis, not for health reasons) - he's retiring on his 60th birthday in December and he's glad to be out of it.

    A penny off draught beer. Why on earth do they do stupid things like this? It costs to do it and is of no benefit even if it actually happens - 20p or 30p off might make a difference, but a penny? Why???
