Well, I pulled the trigger on my first bandsaw!

    <Obligatory tuffsaws recommendation here>

    I'm after a table saw...

The DW745 is a solid saw, plenty good for what you need. The Bosch is also great. If you're limited for space jobsite saws are certainly the way to go, easy to pack away, bring outside on a nice day and all that. Don't get the Makita, that's strictly a saw designed for rough quick joinery tasks.

    Bosch BPD40

I can recommend the Bosch BPD machines. The design allows for deep holes to be drilled which is often quite useful.

    ironmongery

Just about to build an oak door for a friend and have been looking out nice ironmongery. Thanks for this.

Is this dining bench strong enough?

I think that will be plenty strong. You'll get a small amount of deflection of course but that's not exactly a showstopper.

Riving knife higher than the blade! - Potential Mod?

I second using a harder steel for a riving knife if you're making your own. Mild steel will invariably end up bent and is surprisngly difficult to get adequately flat again.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE MULTICO TH... IN THE WORLD. (RESTORATION)

Mother of god - I had one of these and it was in better nick than yours started off with. I absolutely should have restored it, that thing cleans up well! Great job!

    Portable thicknesser with spiral cutterhead

I've literally just ordered a spiral cutterhead from Byrd Tools in the states (assuming you've heard of them) for my DeWalt DW-733. £490 (incl. 40 extra cutters and shipping), then import charges whatever they'll be, then a day's work fiddling to get it in but, to me it seems worth it. I'm...

    Startrite 351 for sale

Yeah just judging by the gauge of the wire running to it. Doubt you can buy 4/5 core power cable of that diameter.

American style pipe clamps/ sash clamps.

I have the 3/4" Besseys which do the trick. There's a shop on ebay that sells up to 500mm sections of mild steel pipe (which has red oxide on it, which fits the red theme of the clamps!) along with couplers, works out to about £30 per clamp pair and £30 for 4m of pipe. Ah yeah it's the pipe the...

    SOLD: XCALIBUR 10" Tablesaw 8050101

Interested but would need some courier-age to get it up here. I also apparently need to post more in order to contact you. Can't find any mention at all of this saw anywhere other than alibaba? Alibaba makes me think bad things but, suppose it doesn't exclude the possibility that it's a proper...

VFD with a DC Brake - compatible?

Ugh, of course, ridiculously good idea.

VFD with a DC Brake - compatible?

Hullo all, longtime lurker here. I'll get straight to business. There's a great deal on a P/T going, it's three phase, I have single phase and would be looking at getting a VFD for it. My uncertainty comes from the fact it has a DC brake wired in. Essentially, do VFDs and DC brakes work...
