    Festool vouchers

Great. Spent £800 last weekend! Still I might be pushed to get my Midi and something else. Maybe I'll go all out and get the Kapex that I do fancy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bought a router table need a router

I have the Triton TRA001 and it's a fab router. It's very powerful but smooth and it also has an option to lift from above when fixed into a table. Mine lives in a table full time and it's great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Two way radios - advice sought

Al lithe channels will be "free" it's not like CB where you're meant to use a channel for emergencies etc. Just make sure you set the channel and CTCSS so that each handset is the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Table saw stand

Ah typical, I cut the actual bench out of the pic, but it's only just cut out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Table saw stand

Ok so I'm the end I put bigger castors on my base, cut the legs down on the stand and bolted them to the base. So the saw is now about 100mm lower and fits under my bench with ease and with the guard and fence etc all in place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Does this look right?

Well, I found my missing bits and got it all back together. Spent a good bit of time aligning everything etc. Made a few cuts and it seems to be fine! So hopefully it's all sorted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Does this look right?

I've raised it and it certainly looks better. I would do some test cuts if I could find where I'd put the rails that hold the table and the fence! I feel like I've looked everywhere, but can't have or they would have turned up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Does this look right?

My table saw has just come back from Axminster where it went back to because of an issue with the riving knife. Basically I'd pass some wood through the blade and then when it got to the riving knife it would bind up and really struggle to pass. I'd end up having to apply a lot of force to...

Two way radios - advice sought

Depends on what you buy for the kids. If they are "play" type ones then they could be on also sorts of frequencies even wifi type frequencies. So your handsets may not be compatible. I'd suggest you went for PMR sets for you and the kids and then you can set the kids to a specific channel and...

Two way radios - advice sought

The link for the radio in the post above is not for CB. CB works around 27Mhz whereas PMR is 446 and I doubt you'll find one that will do both. CB sets tend to be physically bigger as well. For what you want I'd go for PMR you can have CTCSS with it so you can effectively have your own channel...

    Table saw stand

Thanks, that's actually quite funny because that's exactly the base I had it on at first, it didn't move enough for me as the rear two wheels were locked, hence I "upgraded" to my own base with castors.

    Table saw stand

The uneven floor is just an issue for the small castors. What do you mean by mobile cart? To give you an idea my table saw is saw, plus sliding table, plus extended table to the right so in total it's probably 180mm wide. Not sure if that has a bearing on the cart idea? Do you have an example of...

Two way radios - advice sought

The reason for the power output is legislative rather than technical it is possible to have PMR sets up to 50w without a problem (not sure how I know that). You should find that PMR is OK to 2 or 3km depending on terrain. Places like Maplin and even Argos sell them. I have professional sets but...

    Table saw stand

Having got my Axminster TS200 back (hopefully all beautifully aligned especially the riving knife. I need to get it back under my machine bench. Previously I had it mounted on the Axminster stand and I made a wooden base for that with small castors. Two issues with this the height of the saw...

    Leaving Tools Behind!

Sort of related. I was doing the lighting for a stage show recently. I arrived at the theatre to find the previous company that had been in had completely repatched the wiring. I'd designed my rig around the theatre's stand rig and patching. It was a pain but I reported everything to match what...

It really is another world, isn't it?

I know the JLR is owned by Tata but you are still buying a car made in Britain by British people. With regards to the Thatcher comment I was really referring to the fact that she spoke up for the UK, something that doesn't seem to happen these days. As AJB says, go to Germany and you'll see...

Two way radios - advice sought

You need to check but most radios are PMR radios. Some have sub tones and some don't but even the ones with can be turned off so you should be compatible. In the cheap end but good end Motorola are good. Probably fine for what you want. I use Vertex but they are more professional and can be...
